You have limited time and a limited amount of sand. You can use sand to gain more time. But be careful, it might be useful for something else…

So a few things. The concept of the game is great, picking up sand in order to progress is something I can greatly enjoy, but what can help is a little bit more conveyance. Before I knew the Hourglass was the yellow triangle floating above with a timer, I had just speed-ran through the game until I reached the top, and even then I was late by ONE SECOND. Safe to say I got frustrated a bit, until reading through this submission page where I discover the yellow triangle is actually an hour-glass. "No way!" I thought to myself, but after doing a test it was indeed an hour glass which made the game significantly easier. Another example of this is picking up sand and placing it, I didn't know if I was holding a sand block or not and the only way to know is by spending a couple of seconds to press the spacebar in a safe space. So yeah, I think your game has a conveyance problem, but I do like the concept of digging the sand. Would love to see something come out of this.

TL:DR;

- Didn't know the triangle was an hour glass

- You never know if the player is carrying a sand block until it's too late

- Gameplay and Concept is great and would like to see it fleshed out

I got very close to winning before realizing that you can (must) feed the hourglass. I feel like you can probably do something in-game to indicate that possibility, even if it’s as subtle as making it clearly impossible to win without doing so.

Movement is good, though I don't really understand what I'm meant to do. I can pick up sand but can't place it in the funnel, and also it seems to sometime come back. Still cool concept for the jam.

Thanks a lot for the feedback!

The confusion makes total sense, right now there’s no visual indicator to show when the player is carrying a block, and interactions are still a bit unclear (different actions use different buttons, but that’s not communicated well yet).
The sand isn’t supposed to come back. That’s either a bug or a side-effect of missing feedback, and I’ll definitely look into it.

I’m glad you still enjoyed the movement and the core concept, improving clarity and player guidance is the next priority.

Thanks for playing!
