I enjoyed this little metroidvania !
Some notes:
Good job !
YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH WOOOOOOOO I LOVE TO SCHMOOOOOVE!!!!!! Once I got the gloves I was pogging at what I was able to do it was great. I think you should definitely develop more of this.
Stuff I liked in more detail:
Stuff/Issues that I'm kinda nitpicking out that would probably be fixed/a non-issue in a full release
Anyways really sick game would love to see more!!
Fantastic animation work on the main character. While movement is awfully slippery and sometimes unexpectedly restrictive with when you can do a given thing or not (jump from dash, coyote time on the jump), everything feels like it comes together really well when you hit the right flow. Some more polish and extended level design would probably make it a lot easier for players to tap into this appeal. Sound effects especially would support the movement well.
Now and then I'd have a problem with the camera direction just flipping over to somewhere else. I don't know what would cause it while playing KB+M, but it is rather jarring. The floors that send you flying back feel like they acted a bit inconsistent with where you would go.
Overall, very tasty sauce! Could benefit from some seasoning and like... some pasta or bread or something to put it on. Keep on cookin'!
I think you've got a potentially great character controller here with some cool movement tech. I also really liked the graphics and general style.
I think the camera needs tweaking a bit as in tight spaces it has a tendency to zoom in and out very quickly which can feel a little nausea-inducing. I also can't tell whether this a purely visual thing but the character can look like they're 'slipping' when moving around.
I assume there's no sound but there is music, however when or if it plays seems to be bugged. I think I heard it once for a bit. There seems to be no way to recapture the mouse in game if it becomes free. Also I don't think you should have had Ctrl for one of the controls as Ctrl + W is a close tab shortcut for Firefox at least which tripped me up more than once!
The visuals are very intersting. I must admit that they are a bit difficult to look at at some points, but the overall artistic vision is great and sets this game apart from other jam entries. But I feel like some guidance is missing.
Nonetheless: the movement feels very smooth. Better than in most platform games I tested this jam.
You meant that you ran out of time: what was planned for the game?
Actual distinct zones/areas, a boss fight and another ending, also ilustrations for the endings.
i really like the environment art and movement of the player, good game
