Hi All, I recently released a beta version for my game "Eclipse". Since then I have been making many updates based on user feedback. One suggestion I received was to clean up my UI - specifically the button assets. I was wondering if anyone wouldn't mind taking a look and sharing any suggestions you might have!

Hey there, saw that nobody replied yet so decided to give it a go
I read the "how to play" sections and a bit about the lore and got into a single player game right away. I generally felt that the sound effects, movement and screenshake effects were done really well. Personally I felt like the gameplay was quite good and it was somthing that I actually enjoyed to test out.
However I feel that the question marks on the enemy units and their unknown values can sometimes be a bit frustrating . If I were you, I would add some type of "fog of war mechanic" where the values of the enemy units can be seen if they are in a certain range.
Considering this is just a beta, i think overall its quite good. It just needs a bit more visual polishing (maybe making the units look like actual soldiers not just circles for example and the ui as stated in ur post)

I'm really happy to hear that you had an overall good experience testing it. The sound design side of things is definitely more my strong suite compared to my pixel art. I know that the artwork is pretty amateurish and I'm working on improving my skills there!
As for the fog of war mechanic, it's definitely something I've considered. However, I want to keep it as close to the historical board games that Eclipse is based on as possible. The hidden pieces and capture-the-flag mechanics actually go way back to the early 1900s (and maybe before). The idea is to test the players memory and deductive reasoning (guessing the pieces based on which pieces are already captured,etc).
I'll definitely polish the units and overall feel. I really appreciate that advice. If you have a friend who's willing to play with you, please give the multiplayer a try! Multiplayer should hopefully really bring out that board game feel.
