How did you implement the Theme?
The lights of the labyrinth have turned off because of “The Darkness.” Your objective is to restore their energy by helping the star reach the tree. With the star as your companion, the lights of the labyrinth will illuminate as you approach them, cycling through four colors to show you where you’ve already been.

How did you add the Special Object?
Ringing the bell causes some of the walls around you to rotate 90 degrees, unlocking new paths.

Awww the shadow likes me so much he came to greet me at the entrance :D
Honestly this was a really cute game. I love using the bell to change the walls of the maze, and I like the subtle colouring to differentiate what you can and can't move. As your first game jam you should be incredibly proud, this is amazing.

Developer

Thanks a lot for the kind words! We’re glad you enjoyed the game and our receptionist :D

It really means a lot to us!

Oh wow, this was a pleasant one to play. I really enjoyed the intro with the text and narrative and the environment. All those little details really brings me into it. Seeing the large Christmas tree in the distance and crossing the river felt awesome. I also enjoyed the bell mechanic with moving the walls in the maze around to open up more paths. The ghost AI was a bit weird, I think they got stuck on the walls in their pathfinding, but overall I enjoyed the experience! Awesome work.

Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked the environment and the level itself and yes, the ghosts got kinda stuck

HELLO!

I liked the idea of the bell turning the walls around and the cute star greeting us at the beginning :)

I would like to say that the game could still be polished up a bit—the wall textures sometimes overlap slightly (which is just me nitpicking, it doesn't really affect the gameplay), the fog, and something like a slight fade-in when we start the game—perfect!
very great for first jam!!

I remember my first jam... it was awful, your work for your first jam is incredibly impressive and that's really cool, a good start.

Thanks a lot for the feedback

We completely agree, next jams we’ll definitely save more time for testing and polishing. We fixed many of the wall issues, but there’s still room to improve.

But don't think that this post is harshly criticizing your work—I think that for a week and for beginners (even for me, with 3yrs of development), it's a lot of work. It's just that English isn't my primary language, and my message may have seemed rude even though it wasn't meant to be :3

I would be grateful if you would also rate my game, if you haven't already!

Developer

Don’t worry at all! We genuinely appreciate the feedback this is one of the things we liked the most about the gamejam, getting players to experience the game and give feedback

We didn’t take it as harsh criticism. And no worries about the language we completly understood your reply

We’ll be happy to check out and rate your game too!

I did have a play of this one, but couldn't complete it - I got as far as the two benches in the corner of the maze and then it wouldn't open any further when I rang the bell? o.o

Either way, the environment design on this was really nice, it felt the closest that any of these has felt to me to a real place  - and it made me feel very Christmassy as well! Good job ^_^

Developer

Sad you didn't get to experience the entire maze, making it smaller and having more time to test would’ve helped a lot but we didnt plan it well. Sorry you got stuck there

We’re really happy you liked the environment though, we spent a lot of time on it

There are some strange things like floating walls or trees, but at least I got through it :)

Cool little game! Pretty easy to understand what to do

I do love a maze. The mechanic where you could change the maze with the bell was interesting! Added a new layer to the maze!

Interesting. Didn't know shining the light on the ghosts would stop them. I could tell I was getting closer to the end from the more 'complicated' turns, I like the progressing.

Developer

We wanted players to discover the mechanics on their own instead of having everything explained by the star.  We think it makes the game more interactive

Glad you liked the maze and the progression too!
