couldnt get past level 3 T-T, idk if landing is supposed to refresh the fairy but launching on the ice and jumping was never enough, the ledge is just too high.
Real fun game, neat concept and great execution. Would love to see more.
Got a nice mechanic with the jump!
The game is like, clean, the art fits quite well!
Got instant Celeste vibes on those icy walls xD Nice touch !
The sounds are great but i would like to to some background music! that would be great!
It's challenging and addictive.
I think this is really a nice concept.
Congrats on the submission!
Nice game, managed to beat it, fun level design!
Thank you for playing, and good job on beating it!
Like the sound and fairy mechanic a lot. Couldn't get past level and background music or sounds would have been nice. Still a really solid entry, great job!
Thank you for the feedback! Didn't get time to add music this time, but I'm for sure prioritizing it higher next time. Thank you for playing and for taking your time to comment!
Dash along the floor to speeeeeeed and get past the multi ice platform room. It's tight! Good luck. Nice game! Most of the feedback I d agree with was already given except maybe use a slightly different shade of blue for the ice so people don't associate it so much with Celeste visually cause the game looks nice actually and it's all great, custom art!
I'm glad you enjoyed it! It's my first time doing any kind of art for a game, and I admittedly took a lot of inspiration from Celeste - both in terms of mechanics and art style. Thank you for playing and taking your time to comment :D
Not the biggest fan of platformers, but this looks nice and nicely implements theme + wildcards. I gave up on a level with big frozen platform in the middle, but as I said, I'm pretty bad at platformers. Great job!
Thank you for playing! Seemingly a lot of people got stuck on that level, so that's probably bad design on my end... :P Thank you for taking your time to comment!
Pleasing aesthetics. Unintrusive sounds, Good use of the frozen wildcard. I think frozen drift carries the momentum theme in a great many games this jam. So the fairy can be used only once per level. Is there any way out of the third, with the ice in the middle and spikes either side? I can't make the middle platform without fairy, and I'm certain I need them to hover along the spikes before rising vertically.
Previous reviews mention "Celeste" so maybe I've missed a borrowed mechanic there.
Why is there ice on the ceiling? I thought my ability was a rope until I needed it not to be.
Thank you for playing! The fairy doesn't replenish on ice, so I had intended that the player would launch themselves off of the starting platform onto the ice in the middle, and then use the momentum from the ice to wall jump to the end of the level. In hindsight I should have made this a lot clearer. The ice on the roof was just decoration, but I understand if you were confused by it. Sorry! Thank you for being so meticulous with feedback and even attaching a screenshot!
Beautiful pixel art, a really creative mechanic, tight controls, and great level design. I didn't know there was a wall jump mechanic until I read these comments. Maybe I'm still missing something, because I couldn't make it through the level where you jump from ice platform to ice platform. Or maybe I'm just not very good! I really enjoyed playing this game. Fantastic job.
Thank you!! It seems like that eluded a lot of people, and that is entirely a result of bad design on my end - nothing to do with you missing anything! The level with the ice platforms in a row just requires really accurate timing, but I think I might've made it too frustrating. Thank you for playing and taking your time to comment!
Nice game, feels really polished
Thank you so much, and thank you for playing!
Great Celeste-like game. Could be another indicator for the fairy missing, maybe on the UI. Also I found the player too slippery even when not on ice. Good luck on your future projects.
Thank you! I love and adore Celeste, so I might have a slight bias towards mechanics similar to those in that game :D I'm a total UI noob - that is definitely something I'll try and improve next time. Thank you so much for playing and commenting!
I *really* liked the wavedash mechanic where you are intended to dash at the ice to get speed. The wooden platforms that hang off of walls are hard to distinguish and could use another pass to brighten them up so it's easier to see them. This was a lot of fun!
I'm glad you enjoyed it! Very fair critique tbh - they were kind of an afterthought and ended up being totally rushed. Thank you so much for playing my game, and thank you for taking your time to comment!
I thought the character controller felt really good to use, but I really struggled (that's just because I'm bad at platformers though I think haha..) Great job!
Thank you so much for playing, even if you struggled! I think it's easy to lose sight of how hard your level is when you're the one creating it - I'll test them more next time for sure. Thank you for taking your time to comment!
Couldn't get past the second room because I didn't know you could walk, couldn't get past the third room because I didn't know you could wall jump, etc. This game could do with some better tooltips / tutorials. Other that that, it's a fairly fluid platformer, and a good attempt for being your first platformer. Well done.
That's fair! I was really on the fence on whether or not to add more tooltips, because I was hoping that the player would enjoy figuring things like that out themselves, but in hindsight I definitely should've added a tutorial or something similar. Thank you for playing and thank you for taking your time to comment!
this was pretty awesome to play! the controls felt super tight which is a must have for platformers. i really liked how you got the momentum mechanic going, this was a great entry
Thank you so much! I really tried hard to make the controls feel tight and responsible, so I'm glad you noticed.
