Your son's pixel art is awesome and he should keep it up! Hopefully you guys will have enough time to avoid the AI art next time. Thanks for being honest and forward about it though! I think you have a good base for a full game here. The only big change I can think of would be maybe having a better way to identify the culprit w/o having to rely on the hints? Or some mechanic where you can only choose 1 hint and you have to make the right decision based on the suspects and then choose the culprit based on choosing the right hint. I hope that makes sense!

Hope you and your son had a blast and tell him to keep up that pixel art :D

I think it's so special you made this with your son. I hope you two keep it up :D

shame about the AI art. I understand not having the time or skillset, but there are many better and more ethical ways to get around that: stock photos, existing free or paid assets, very simple art styles (e.g. stick figures, simple pixel art), drawing it yourself even if it’s bad… after all, tiny game jams have existed for way longer than genAI did and it hasn’t stopped people before.

I didn’t understand the clues on the right, or what the “but they come at a cost” means? but maybe that’s a translation issue. either way, I’m glad you and your son had a good time.

Thank you for the review. Regarding the text about the cost, it means that your score will be lower when you use a clue.

About the images, we have started producing them; the suspects themselves were created by my son in pixel art.

The AI-generated images were placeholders, but we did not have enough time to replace them. However, we clearly explained this in the About section.

Thanks a lot! We built the system to be fully dynamic using JSON. You can expand the game by simply adding new cases to the file and dropping the corresponding images into the correct folders. I’ve included the link to the GitHub repository on the game's 'About' screen if you want to check it out.
