This is a cool game concept. Some of the art was squished, and the text was hard to read, but other than that, good job.
The presentation here is really great! Really love the artwork and how everything is laid out. I think there just needs to be a little bit more feedback on what the player got right or wrong w/ their predictions so they can know if they're making progress towards predicting the pattern. Not too much though, b/c I do love how cryptic it is at the same time. Super cool concept overall though, and fits the theme well
Also, if you expand this further, something to spend the money on could be fun. Even if it's just purely cosmetic. Like getting a fancier watch or phone or something could be cool.
Thank you for playing, I agree, I definitely needed more information on the screen for the player, but I was just trying to get everything working in time. My original plan was to use the money as a wager for your speculations, basically a betting system, but that was more than I was prepared for. I also thought of using the money on different potted plants or coffee cups could be cool, but I knew I would never be able to finish if I didn't stop the art when I did. Just happy to have a tiny slice. Thanks again for the kind words.
Absolutely makes perfect sense! What you accomplished in the 3 day time slot is super impressive! Cutting stuff like that was in the spirit of the game jam anyway!
Definitely love that betting system idea! Would be a great addition if you expand on the game further! I'm a sucker for making way too big a bet in video games haha!
I was really excited about the idea of this game, but in execution I found it a bit confusing to play. As a start, it needs a better way to feedback which predictions were right or wrong -- or if you want to keep it more challenging, even just an indication of how many were right or wrong . As a player, I don't even know what $75 profit means, so have a hard time calibrating my theories based on results. (Maybe a post-it saying "$__ per correct prediciton, -$__ per false prediction"?)
Still, there's a really cool concept here and I could see it becoming quite fun to figure out how the cards work on different types of news stories... a balance of becoming more accurate over time with existing stories while having to learn how new stories or new cards might impact things.
I know it's a tricky game to get right, especially in such a short span of time. This type of game can only be developed with play-testing throughout, since you, the developer, are already cursed with the knowledge of how it all works! Well done for putting this together and completing your first jam ever :D
Thank you for playing. I get what you mean, I wanted to add a few extra indicators for some of the things you mentioned but was all ready banging my head against the wall figuring out what was wrong with what I had. It was definitely more ambitious than I realized, or at least, my programming skills just weren't quite up to par to get it all done in time. Again, thank you, I appreciate the feedback very much. :)
I feel like the game needs some kind of ending , or at least a target to motivate me to keep playing.
Maybe if you reach a certain amount of money, you get a “Thanks for playing!” screen , and if your money goes below zero, it could say “You’re broke!”
Thanks for playing, I do agree, I wanted to add more to the phone call and have a tally tracker for perfectly predicted days, but I got bogged down in the card mechanics. I let the money go in the negatives if you get too many wrong so that you can try to pull yourself out of the deficit, just didn't want to hit people with "you lose" before they even notice the pattern to the cards. This was my first jam ever so your feedback is greatly appreciated. :)
I like the art and funny idea for a game. From the UI I wasn't sure if there's anything to do after selecting three answers aside from skipping to the next day, like if there'd be another call if I'd wait.
Click the watch to skip to next day after you select predictions. I tried to make a highlight effect for it, but was running out of time. Thank you for playing!
