What category are you in?

Novice

How does your game relate to the theme?
You play as a court jester at the whim of your Queen and King--in-game, you can choose to "put on masks," which modify the text you see in-game and allow you to gain access to more knowledge about situations that you must find the correct answer to. However, the text becomes biased in favor of the king/queen while you have their respective masks on.

Very interesting story, and the idea is very original; it's the only game of its genre in this jam. Background music would have been a great addition. The art is also incredible!! Could you play my game too? (I only have 4 ratings)

I really love the art for this game. The crown looks really cool and sparkly c:

Interesting concept, I'm not familiar with the genre but the way the masks tied into the game was very interesting to see. I also like that it's not as much the truth you get from one mask, but rather the bias of one of the two sides. The illustrations also added a lot to the worldbuilding.

I was really lost on the first playthrough, however. I didn't really make the connection that each mask represents the king and queen respectively until after I got the Balanced ending.

I think this concept would benefit from a longer game in which the player can appreciate the way the masks impact your perception and you have to walk the line between king and queen more.

thank you for playing!!! yes, i totally agree on the length part—i originally meant to do five scenarios but had to descope as i was running out of time :( it would’ve been better for showing the mask perspective changes too imo

i ended up balancing it as best i could by having one success each for a king/queen/neutral response to the three situations !!
