Love the idea here! I enjoyed lighting up the level and it was very exciting when I heard that sheep noise and started tracking them down. I think a tutorial could definitely help b/c the learning curve is pretty steep. Definitely think you could expand on this if you wanted to! Maybe add a few more mechanics. Maybe we could have like 3 (or whatever number makes sense for the level)  permanent torches we could place down or something like that to help us keep our bearings but at the same time, not be able to light the whole level

Great job :D

I legit was scared while playing and i know it's not even supposed to be a horror game xD it took a bit to understand what i was supposed to be doing but once i saw the little light from the sheep i got the game.

It's fun, i'd say theres some room for improvement in the explaining side of things (the description helped). Also, there were problems with the controls while the game was a small window, i had to fullscreen it for my mouse to register on the whole screen (in the small window, once the mouse left the game bounds it wouldn't register it).

Good job!

It was hard. I walked around lighting up the area. I found some sheep. I was interesting. It needs more elements to engage with.

Thanks. Glad you liked it. I have a question. Do you think it was hard because of the mechanics itself or was it because of the implementation. In hindsight, I think the experience would be much smoother if I put more thought in player control and feedback and such.

I think it takes a while to figure out how to play. At first you see nothing and there is no map and you don’t know where to go and there’s no hint to guide you in the right direction. Then when you explore is feels like one of those old dungeon RPG games from the 90’s. You start lighting up the place and getting an understanding of what is going on and then hear some sheep. image.png

thank you. I should have made a tutorial for it. At this state it's more like a playable idea than a game. Maybe I'll remake it when my skill gets better. btw there's a second level, in case you missed it. Press space at the gameover and once again when the starting screen show up. Ahhh I should have learned to make UI before the jam.

It is good practice. With some tweaking, and maybe a time limit or a leaderboard, I would be happy to playtest it again. That puts it ahead of 90 percent of game jam entries. And game jam entries are already ahead of 90 percent of people who want to make a game but never finish one, because getting to a playable build requires pushing through a lot of real obstacles.

The 3d environment is charming. Playing around with positioning light is nice. <3

It was quite fun lighting up a level - I almost wish that the lights could stay up and wouldn't disappear as you add more, but I get that could make it too easy. The final sheep gave me a lot of trouble! I was very glad to find it lol

I’m really confused about what to do, I can’t see anything, there’s 3 numbers on screen but none of them have descriptions.

is this right? I don’t see anything like in the screenshots

The 3 probably represents number of brain cells active while I was making it I think (: The game is meant to be dark and you have to navigate by sound and by marking where walls are. I had to increase the brightness just for the screenshots because otherwise there won't be anything to see.

haha that explains it, I thought there was something wrong with my browser. I might give it another try when I have headphones plugged in, these sound-based games have been giving me trouble considering my audio setup (two 15 year old speakers sitting on random spots around my table)

Sound giving vision is nice, the concept that creating vision through your own sound is even cooler. Nice job!

thanks

Good job on finishing the game!

The overall scene feels a bit too dark for me. I think it might work better if the character held an oil lamp or a torch, so the "press space to place a light source on the wall" mechanic fits more naturally with the gameplay.

Also, I feel some ambient sounds would help build the atmosphere, maybe wind, insects sounds at night.

Thank you! I originally planned it to make the surfaces lit up for a while then fade away as if you knock on the walls to know it there then later forget about it, that kind of idea. Though that was clearly beyond my scope.

Also I love your game, such a wholesome experience
