I liked the concept, but the controls are kind of weird, had to place my hands in an unnatural feeling way

Nice atmosphere, i like the concept and the game loop itself is easy to figure out and enjoy. I think more animations on the gate or some sort of HP bar that would indicate that you have to kill enough books to get to the tome would have been helpful, the first level I just bashed against it while killing a couple of enemies and i though the bashing was the reason that i passed (though maybe its a me thing haha). I like the game, you did a good job on it!
This was a really cool experience, and I found myself wanting more of it by the end, which is always a good sign. I would have loved to see more levels, although I totally understand that time constraints probably limited the scope. It was also fun switching between playstyles, but it would’ve been interesting if the “chill” side had a bit more going on than just healing, to give it more depth and strategic choice. Overall, a very enjoyable concept with a lot of room to grow.
I totally agree with you. I was fearful of scope creep as I was building it, but I am so happy with the outcome! When the voting is over, I look forward to returning with future updates. Thank you so much for hosting this fun jam. It's the first one I've participated in, and I hope to join more in the future!
I hope you'll add to this game after the jam is done b/c I really enjoyed the base game! Combat was cool and I like the shifting bt/wn worlds aspect. Could see this being a ton of fun w/ more weapons, enemy types, and levels. Absolutely understand that wouldn't have fit the time window for the jam itself of course!
Enjoyed what I played for sure! Great job :D
I dislike the art a lot. Love the idea of the two connected worlds. The combat is pretty basic, but I found it enjoyable. I think you did the hostiles dirty by having them getting stuck on all the terrain.
I enjoyed some of the extra design touches you added, like the subtle screen shake when you shoot. Gives the game and controls a nice feel and makes shooting the books feel satisfying. Wish there was more to it, but what you've got was a quick and fun time :)
(oh hey, I rated this but forgot to comment.) this is one of the entries that make me wish it was a full game. I can imagine more levels and items that you can only get in one world or the other, maybe even enemies that start infiltrating the safe world. there’s a lot of potential here.
as it is it’s pretty fun, it gets too easy once you play it a couple times but that’s understandable for a game jam. I like the sound design too. nice work :-)
Well done! I like the way that the world that looks odd is actually a safe space and vice versa
