Nice game that works really well. I wanted to keep playing after I was done haha
that’s a great thing to hear, thanks! :D
It is good! It will do great as a mobile game.
thank you! I’m not interested in making mobile games because dealing with app stores sounds like a pain, but I bet it could work!
this definitely deserves to win, best game ive played in this jam so far
aw, thank you! I can’t pick one, but my favourites are Beneath The Skin, Blink Exorcist and Trust your ears
Love it!
thanks!!
i don't really see how this matches the theme of don't trust you eye, but the game it self is insane the polish, sound, the art is really good, and in a DAY is insane great job
the idea is the clones look identical but have wrong personalities, so your eyes aren’t enough to tell if someone is human or not. but you’re right that the gameplay doesn’t have much to do with the theme, it’s more in the setting/story. and thank you!!
You cloned yourself in order to make this in a day didnt you. It's simple but quite enjoyable. Also love how the jolly Christmassy tune juxtaposes the big lazer frying people lol
it’s the power of hyperfixation, thanks! I love when games use tonal dissonance like this haha
This is so fun and cute! Great job!
thank you!! :-)
I am *really* impressed by the fact that you pulled this off in 24 hours. It's honesly between the nicest games I've played so far: you took a small idea and made it a really enjoyable experience, great job!
aw, thanks! I’m horrible at time management and getting bigger projects done, but I’m pretty efficient under pressure haha
Really enjoyed this! Super impressive for a 24 hour project! I love the idea of just casually vaporizing someone and hoping they're a clone based on getting minor information wrong like their age! Hilarious concept to me b/c I routinely have to think about my own age when people ask haha
I just realized the last time someone asked how old I am it took me like 3 seconds to rememember, and I still almost said the wrong number. if I was in this game’s world my clone would survive lmao. thanks!
I had a fun shift! This is a good little game considering how short your time was to complete it. Well done! I found it quite compelling and could see it getting even more fun and challenging the more facts you add and the larger the dialogue snippets become. I get the comparison to Papers Please, but there's nothing wrong with adding more entries into the "Papers Please"-like genre. The way you executed it is different enough - I quite like how much more real-time this feels, as you can't pause on a conversation or go back and ask someone to repeat something... it really keep you on your toes! Nicely done :D
thank you!! the real-time aspect was almost accidental, I made the speech bubbles start automatically for debugging reasons, but I ended up enjoying it and keeping it that way :D
Love a happy accident!
It´s a fun game, and the art is good! The only problem is that maybe it´s not very original, but I comprehend why (the theme of the jam wasn´t very good, in my opinion)
Congratulations!
thank you! and yeah, halfway through I started thinking to myself “this is like Papers, Please but worse”, and I’m not even the only person to do that in this game jam lol. I don’t mind though, it’s interesting seeing how different people tackle the same concepts
I really enjoyed the art and music (and the effect during pause). Great job!
Some suggestions hope can help:
1. Some answers to common questions feel a bit repetitive.
2. Insert some intentional fake information. For example, if the real information is "dog", show the player this: "I dreamed of petting a cat when I was a child, but now I like dogs". I think this would fit the theme "don't trust your eyes" even better;)
thank you so much!
1 - yeah, I wish I had added more different dialogue lines, but I was tired and it was getting harder to come up with sentences that made sense haha.
2 - that’s a good one! I actually have the code ready for exactly these kinds of lines, but I only ended up using it once or twice. one line goes something like: “We went to the zoo. My [FAMILY MEMBER] liked the [OTHER ANIMAL], but I was excited for the [ANIMAL].”
