How does your game relate to the theme?
Dead Line Girl / The Maiden of the Unrendered Mask begins the battle wearing a purple-and-black checkerboard mask β the universal symbol of a missing or broken texture. Within the world of the game, this mask represents how the engine sees her: not as a character, but as a mistake that was made, a complete error state, and something that shouldnβt be in the game at all.
The gameplay and the story revolve around The Maiden surviving long enough to prove she deserves to exist. As the player endures the bullet hell chaos born from her instability, theyβre not just dodging attacks they are helping her fight against being erased.
If the player succeeds, the mask breaks away, and she finally receives her own face within the game!

This was so much fun! I am an aspiring game designer and artist going to school, so I always love getting to bring my projects to life. I am excited to get to read the feedback we receive from this jam! I hope to continue fleshing out more ideas to this prototype in the future.

This was a lot harder than I expected it to be. It was fun and unique. I also did find myself invested in the story that was going on as well. Good work!
Really glad you enjoyed it - I am so sorry the final cut scene might not have played for you!
Here is the final cut scene that was supposed to play, just in case you did not get it to play in game and found yourself interested in my little silly story! Cheers ~ <3
I really like the game idea here, having to split my attention was a fun challenge and more engaging than I expected. It reminds me of One Step From Eden in that way. Good job on finishing something!
The comparison to One Step From Eden is a huge compliment - thank you so much for playing and taking the time to leave feedback! <3
BEAUTIFUL game!! The overral art style and the noisy background were perfect. The soundtrack too! The atmosphere, combined with the narrative, was very well done. Loved it! Really liked the shooting mechanic, the shooting changing based on your combo was a very nice touch! Great game!!!
Thank you so so much!!!!! I feel honored as the art in your game was absolutely gorgeous, and a really great submission itself!
Thank you for reassuring me with the gameplay feedback!! It was a really ambitious idea on my part for a short game jam, but I am so happy we were able to get it working in the capacity we were able to!
Good story, I like the touhou gameplay. Also, the music is really good! It would be nice to have an option to deactivate the changing background. Great game!!!
Thank you so much for checking the game out!!!!
That is a super good suggestion, I always love me some toggles for custom features and would definitely be something I would want to implement if I ever continued to work on this idea more! π
Wow, I am very impressed by the animated cutscene and the narrative. Although, I had a really hard time understanding the gameplay as I would get a game over screen within 10 seconds π.
Thank you so much!!!
We were having a real tough time trying to balance the gameplay and difficulty, as well as the music to be on time. I am very happy with what we were able to churn out as a little prototype, but I agree we definitely need to find a way to balance the gameplay a bit better.
I will be sure to check out your game soon, thank you so much for leaving a review and your feedback! :)
I am so sorry :(
