It has potential, but besides the movement bug it needs to be more generous with bullets (holding down the mouse, they didn't fire very quickly or regularly.) The timer is also too short to even enjoy the game properly... I think finding the 12 gold things is already challenging/fun enough in an invisible maze that you've got to explore and reveal. There's a really solid game here, just hiding behind a few barriers to play. Well done for submitting something, and keep at it!
It doesn’t work well. It has potential. When I hold the mouse it only fires sometimes.
Two main problems with the game, as I see it:
The "technical" aspect. The game is locked into this 600x600 play area, which I find annoying; and then there's the odd ritual you need to to for the controls to work. F5 for retry is also quite crude.
The second problem is the "challenge". I understand that in attempt to align with the theme one may choose to provide false, or in this case, limited, information to the player. What I don't understand why is it combined with a timer. I'd love to know why you decided to add it.
Good points!
The technical issues are due to me not testing the game in itchio, which is a noobs mistake -_- being inside the itchio frame makes page focus behave differently as it it was standalone. Maybe I could add a link to play it outside the frame :)
The timer was a simple way to add some motivation for the player to keep going and hurry up, and give it a bit of tension.
All these flaws are the result of making the game in a hurry in one evening, and not testing properly in itchio :P
Hey, didn't rate yet b/c I couldn't figure out how to shoot. I got the WASD movement to work but when I click left mouse, nothing happens. Wanted to ask for further instructions so I can actually try it out! Ty!
what? did you clicked on the game? it shoots with left mouse button.. Thanks for delaying the vote ♥
ohh wait, you have to press left mouse button and HOLD it. It shoots while you are pressing the mouse. I'll update the instructions, it is not obvious for sure. Thanks for the help!! 🙏
Ty for the help w/ the controls! I like this game! My only issue w/ it is the technical aspect of needing to click off and then on the game, but the game insta launches so the timer instantly starts so I lose out on time each run. A title screen or some delay on starting the game could help as well. But I like the core loop. It was tense hoping I could run into an orb in time. Maybe adding some extra hints where the orbs are could help too so the player isn't just picking a direction and hoping for the best?
Great job! And ty again for responding! Sorry I got back to it so late but at least I made it before the deadline! :D
Thanks for the feedback! All very good points indeed :)
the game gets monotonous pretty quickly, but it looks and feels nice to play. I like the little details, like how you bounce back when you hit a wall, the visual feedback is great
It's a shame about the game. When I launched it, I thought I was finally seeing something interesting, but unfortunately, the movement doesn't work.
oh, true that! If you make it full screen and click outside the game it should work.
Thanks for reporting!!
