Cool game! The parry is satisfying and the upgrade sacrifice mechanic was interesting. I suggest adding fall damage, because I was able to drop down to the boss area and skip a few enemies.

Thanks for playing and giving some feedback! And hmm, bug or feature? ;)

We’ll definitely fix that up haha! Appreciate it :D

Very cool game but I could not get past the point where I gotta fight two of those guys at once T_T

Developer(+1)

thanks for playing! We’ll definitely look at balancing combat and offering different difficulty levels in the future.

Really enjoyed this one! Never expected to play "King's Field" here :D

Took a while getting used to but then it hit well.

In general I d say the parry window was too generous to be honest, and the final boss was very easy to out manoeuvre. Apart from those, really enjoyed this one!

Thanks for the feedback! Happy to hear it was fun.
I agree with the difficulty feedback. It probably would have been better to have preset difficulty settings that adjusted the party window and boss targeting!
thanks for taking the time to play!

Pretty Good!, bit hard though.

That was lovely! Very polished experience. The voice acting caught me by surprise and was such a wonderful touch. Fighting felt a little sluggish, but other than that and the lack of a working settings menu, it was a solid, bite-sized Dark Souls experience.

Fantastic job team! ദ്ദി ˉ͈̀꒳ˉ͈́ )✧

Thank you!

I'm happy you enjoyed it. The voice acting was a last minute decision I made to make the king feel more impactful, I'm glad it paid off!

Balancing the combat was definitely one of the harder parts of the project. We'll absolutely tweak that for later versions of the game. And oops I'll remember to make a settings menu next time (or at least remember to take the button out) lol.

Thanks for playing and your feedback!

It's obvious that a lot of effort has been put into this game! The retro game visuals are very impressive. However, I suggest adding more operation instructions instead of assuming that players already know 'how to do it'. The combat might need to be more diverse. It's a very promising work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much.

Ahh good point about operation instructions! I wanted to teach the player about all of the mechanics in the world instead of reading a wall of text, like how you have to smash those crates in the first level to get into the hall. But like it always is with game jams, we ran out of time hahaha!

I'm happy it reflects the effort we put in. Thanks for playing!

Wow, that was dope. Super fun retro dark dungeon crawler. I enjoyed the atmosphere of the levels a ton. The winter outdoor area felt isolated cold and alone, the mountain felt dark, cramped, and also vast in the other areas, and overall it had a brutal feeling. The aesthetics and the gameplay fit well with that theme too. Enemy combat felt a bit clunky.

For the main enemy it was block, slash and repeat. For the main boss, I would get close for him to swing, wait for the animation and do three hits and rinse and repeat. Great for a game jam just wanted to call it out for a full length release. The sacrificing fingers for abilities was cool and I am curious how that's going to develop latter on. I ended up getting a strength scroll at the end but didn't have a chance to use it before the last boss. Would love to see that system built out more. Also please, a run sprint button would be nice for moving around. Can drain stamina but it felt really slow moving around the map sometime and I could tell I didn't want to back track because of how long it would take.

Overall, this was amazing though. Seriously, congrats. I would totally play this as a full length game.

Thanks for the kind words!

I appreciate the honest feedback. I totally agree about the pain points with the combat! That's something we'll be reworking pretty heavily after the voting period.

I'm happy to hear you enjoyed our work! Everyone worked really hard to nail that rough aesthetic. Thanks for taking the time to write a detailed review. We'll be working on a full length version of this ;) so keep an eye out
