Creative Vision / Rationale / How Did You Incorporate the Theme
We interpreted the theme through the lens of "Magnetism" to explore the paradox of relationships: being bound together yet forced apart.

The concept of "Still Reaching" reflects the emotional journey of two spirits who yearn to touch but are cursed by physics. We incorporated the theme into the core mechanics—your partner is your greatest obstacle (due to repulsion) but also your only means of survival (through synergy).

We wanted players to physically feel this tension. By forcing players to navigate the "Magnetic Gap" and communicate constantly to synchronize their charges, the gameplay itself becomes a metaphor for the effort required to maintain a connection despite the forces pulling us apart.

This game is a lot of fun and does an excellent job of encouraging teamwork. The push-and-pull mechanic feels fresh and keeps each level interesting, as players truly have to rely on one another to make progress.

The controls are intuitive, and the overall design stays engaging without ever feeling overwhelming. It’s a well-crafted cooperative game that’s enjoyable to play and satisfying to complete.

What a simply lovely idea!

love the push and pull, led to some silly "fights" about who was where especially accidentally using your power had no way to release it without firing. fun as a tournament with competing teams of two for time, can't imagine the mayhem if you had more than two of them on screen. gave me pico park vibes. nice job.

Developer

Thank you for your feedback! We also got some inspirations from pico park like you said, we love you noticed it!

Co-op games seem like the way to go for the theme. At the same time, they can be an issue for a jam since many players won't have someone to play with. Bold call and well done. Playing it solo is doable so good job on that too.

Maybe tune down the camera autozoom.  Especially when you use the portals, the changes can be a bit jarring.

Thank you for your feedback! It was our first game jam, so we missed those things.

This was a really cool unique concept! I especially enjoyed the ability to push/launch the other play as part of the puzzles!

It's a cool idea, about two entities on the same screen. Good job!

I tried it but I struggle with the platforming with 2 characters. I won't rate it, that would not be fair but I will still leave my feedback.

The mechanic is interesting, I like how the 2 characters react to each other it might be very fun with 2 players.

Some platforming sections are quite tedious even with a single player, I'm mostly refering here to this section where you go up platform by platform and if you fall you have to restart it again.

The art is clear, we understand what is gameplay and what is environment so it does not disturb gameplay and the music is nice. Good job on this!

Thank you for your genuine feedback! I'll try your game too!

Great game! Fun to play, but I hope this game should actually add method to play as single and I hope there is some kind of save points in the stage. :D

Thank you for your idea!

Loved the particle effects, playing it solo proved a bit difficult but the mechanics are pretty nice! Good job, cheers!

Developer

Thank you for playing! We’d love the chance to provide you with an even better experience next time.

The mechanic is interesting, but it wasn't clear that the crystal indicates who's pushing. The camera also zooms in way too much, which makes it hard to see where you're jumping. The AI generated assets are a bummer, even some monochrome blocks would've been fine. There's no need for your game to look like a work of art. Simple graphics are totally acceptable!

Thank you for your advice!

I don't know what I did wrong, but I think I soft locked in that first level as I couldn't figure out where to go. Congrats on finishing.

Given another chance, I’ll make sure to show you a better performance. Thank you for playing!

I also played this solo as well and the game plays very smooth! I really like the magnetic mechanic and how either player has the choice to be the pusher or the puller. I will say that it wasn't obvious that I could do that at first. A message prompt would be helpful. All in all, this is a nice take on the theme

Thank you for your feedback! We'll try your game as well!

I think this is a really cool co-op game concept! The introduction of the magnet mechanic, in particular, really enhances the interaction between the two players. The only downside is that I played it solo, haha. Also, the camera angle sometimes limits the view of certain areas. Overall, though, it's a very fresh theme! I hope to play more levels.

By the way, here is my own project: a puzzle game based on the mechanic of swapping NPC AIs. Feel free to play and rate ito(* ̄▽ ̄*)ブhttps://keerzhu.itch.io/handshakeprotocol
