I was quite skeptical of the game at first but that all changed when the absolute CHARMER Keito was introduced. He is so dreamy i wish he would just sweep me away in his arms and allow me to devote my life to him. Every time he appears on screen i get a tingly butterfly feeling and i just start squirming in excitement on what he's going to say next. The game is absolutely 5 stars which is coincidentally the same number of letters in Keito's name! OMG

Legacy of Aeon changed my life, I found the love of my life, Linne during this gameplay. Ever since, nothing speaks louder than "happiness" than Linne. I love Linne, Linne is life, Linne is the way.

Absolutely GOATED Take. She was voted best written character for a reason.

I just wanted to leave a quick Q&A here for version 2.3. I'll update this whenever we get an interesting question in the "Dev Questions & Updates" discord channel or when I think something might be best addressed without a devlog.

Q: I'm stuck in an area! (Either because of a major Quasi fuckup or because I'm lost).

A: If you're stuck in an area: Join the Discord server for the fastest response times and fixes. I get notifications there, and we have a help channel.

Q: Have you made anything from the game?

A: Well, games should be free. I'll set up patreon when I feel it'll be worth it. But till then I've made an incredible -200 dollars off the game. Jokes aside I love this project. Monetization will come, till then I'm pouring what I can into making it as good as I can.

Q: What are the game's biggest inspirations?

A: Well, my biggest inspirations were probably Project Moon, Fromsoft, and Maybe a splash of Arc System works writing wise, Musically the original tracks are heavily inspired by Mitsukiyo (Pre Blue Archive Piano Compositions), ZUN, M2U, and anything vaguely dark souls related.

Q: Are all the areas secretly interconnected?

A: Though most of the map is heavily inspired by Dark Souls. Not everything is a shortcut. I know. Bummer.

Q: Does this game use AI?

A: Well yes but actually no. So basically we've got AI art in the main title screen where the blue garden is. And some of the vocal tracks use programs like SynthV or TTS. But the music itself is human made. So I guess I'd say yeah there's AI because I am but one man and there is a metric shit ton on my to do list before remaking the title screen.

Q: Okay, but what is this game really?

A: Think of it as a comedic, Souls-lite RPG, mainly inspired by D&D campaign hijinks and meta-horror. It's not going to give you that Dark Souls gameplay, but hey, the map's complicated as hell, and that's close enough!

Thanks as always. Remember that Discord is available if you ever need help or an emergency bug fix. We usually complete them within a day. If I see it immediately, it's usually within an hour or less, but it depends on the bug.

Cheers everyone!

Peak ngl, the characters are good, the writing's good, the music's great, and I'd definitely say it's worth playing if you're a fan of the genre but if you're not already a fan of the jrpg genre it's not gonna change your mind. but if you grew up playing dnd you'll definitely get a kick out of it and a few spooks if you go down the rabbit hole.

Found this through soundcloud but I'll be sure to keep updated with it.

Please don't spam in comments. It clogs up the system and makes it hard to read others. Thanks for the kind words though! Just remember for next time that clicking the button once is enough, even if it looks like it didn't send. Happens to me sometimes too.

WHAT THE HELL MAN. So I just played cut strings.

WHY THE HELL DID THIS FUNNY SHITPOST DND GAME JUST MAKE MY HEARTRATE SPIKE. SO OKAY OKAY.

heres the context. I was walking and I found a hole. Clicked on it a bunch, thought it was hilarious then the world broke somehow, talked to a teddy bear, gave me a bad ending. Came back with an item and it was chill.

SO CUT TO NOW. I'm walking through the first town. And some lady is just up there standing on the ledge. I clip through a cliff, Talk to her, AND THIS MF JUST HITS ME WITH THE MOST ACCURATE FUCKING PANIC ATTACK I'VE SEEN IN GAMING. OUTRIGHT.

This ins't even horror. This is just triggering a panic attack by making the player repeatedly click through 'I can't breathe' and using heartbeats to make me panic...

To sum it up.

Why does this funny dnd game do mental health more accurately than anything else I've played wth

Developer (1 edit)

Firstly, just got this in my email and nearly spit out my drink, jokes aside dude. Please don't post spoilers in the comments. I'll let this one slide because it doesn't spoil anything major except the cryptic ass Cut Strings bullshit I probably should have explained myself for this exact reason lmfao.

Basically, I'm a goofy goober :3

Developer

Oh and before I forget, 'remember to breathe' next time.

Breathing is overated

[SPOILERS]

Okay, I have a theory. So, for anyone who knows the Ruby subplot in cut strings. What if Ruby is the half blood Linne mentions at the end of the intro. for example, the comment about being half-blood. She's the only other character that has as much influence as Linne, because she only appears in hidden events. For example, she appears in the scene with the scent of lemon in Juan's Keep. It would make sense given shes the only character that refers to us by the name we input during Linne's Garden scene.

Other than that, I can only guess that Linne is a god. Or a godlike person who knows more than we do. It seems like the world is a time loop but I'm not sure how that relates to the current plot, if there is a plot at all. This game is good at making people think it has no plot unless you put the details together.

There are so many places that we only hear about briefly. We don't even know where Malbec is! What is the Ebon Sultanate? What's the point of mentioning Ortna? Is it just Japan? We only see a small part of the world, and while I love it, I wish we could go back to an area every week. I want to see all the places we know about through passing dialog.
