Creative Vision / Rationale / How Did You Incorporate the Theme
The Theme: We chose to explore the "blurred space" between wanting to reach out and actually making contact. To touch is a physical act, but it’s also how we perceive the world—feeling warmth, pressure, and texture. When we can see, our eyes and hands work together to create a lasting impression in our minds. But what if that sight is gone?

The Experience: We found that when people are blindfolded, their hearing and touch naturally sharpen. They move more carefully, reaching out to feel the edges of their surroundings to understand where they are. We want to simulate this sense of touch to let you "feel" your way through this story.

The Connection: This longing to touch exists between the girl and her late mother. For instance, when she falls toward a cliff's edge, it is her mother’s hand that catches her. It also exists between her past and present self—the sounds she hears from her childhood memories help her find the path forward today. In her dreams, touching an object briefly brings its vivid colors back to life. These connections may not be "real" in the physical sense, but they reach across time and space.

Our goal is to let you perceive a familiar world through a new lens, and in doing so, we hope to touch your heart.

Made it to the end. Loved the experience. I confess I had already given up until I read the positive comments and decided to stick with it. The learning curve here is quite the wall. Especially since leaving the house is by far the hardest part.

Two interface issues. Not sure what the floating hands are supposed to add. They just look weird and I didn't get any info from them. Second, the game keeps prompting me to press LB to switch times. This is not only distracting and breaking the immersion but then if I do, the dark is always reset back to the beginning. Truly disheartening.

The environment itself is beautifully made and with a very clear and distinct style. The sound design could use a bit more polish but it sure gets the job done. The music is simply beautiful and touching. This is overall a great experience. I just hope enough people persevere to see it through.

Thanks for the feedbacks. By design, the hands are supposed to provide outlines of your surrandings when touching objects in dark, but it is not implented properlly in the end. Prompting of the LB could be a minor experience / UX issue we decide to not touch for we have greater bugs needs to attend to in the last minute of submitting.

I am glad that the sound guide wokrs out for you~

This is a beautiful interpretation of the theme. It was challenging to navigate the environment in darkness, but after failing a couple of times, I eventually found my way to the end. The sound cues really helped, but the limited camera movement from side to side was throwing me off.  And what a fantastic choice for the song.  It's so bittersweet and it really drives the emotion of your game.

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks for your feedbacks and comments!

If the side to side means up&down, it is becauseThe camera limitation is a design choice that intends to prevent player walking while looking into the sky or the ground which will result them being even lost in the dark lol.

However if the side to side means left to right, then this will be a technical issue that if you dont play in full screen to hide ur cursor then the camera will be limited only to certain angle of movement.

Congrats you are one of the few people who made to the end! Cheers for the hard core spirit!

In fact, I was randomly searching japanese traditional songs and the minute I listened to it, I knew that was it. So thanks for giving credits to our choice and also huge thanks to the lady who played the song. It has to be her version - personal, intimate, and as you said bittersweet.

I absolutely love this demo.

It reminds me of my late grandmother.

In the final years of her life, she was blind, but she always remained incredibly strong and constantly comforted my mother, telling her not to be too sad.

The day before she passed away, when her consciousness was fading, she told us that she could see her own mother coming to take her. She even said, “When Mom comes, my eyes will be able to see again.”

This demo somehow helped me briefly understand the hardship my grandmother faced during the last years of her life, and just how strong she truly was. Even though nearly ten years have passed, thinking about it still brings me to tears.

Developer

It is an absolute honor that our demo could evoke such precious and touching memories for you. Knowing that our work has connected with your life in such a meaningful way is the greatest gift we could receive as developers. It’s moments like these that truly bring gamers together :)

When something is lost, we believe something else — something unexpected — reveals itself to you. Eventually, we find comfort and strength in the things we once overlooked.

Thank you so much for playing and for sharing your grandmother’s story with us. I hope our paths could cross again in the future :)

I love this game! It's so creative! It's a pity it's too difficult and the instructions aren't clear enough, so I couldn't finish it.

Developer

Thanks for the comment! So glad you enjoyed it (at least in part)!

A quick hint (if you would like~): follow the audio cues — the closer you are to the goal, the louder and clearer the sound will become!

A very unique concept, perhaps the first ever to simulate what blind people actually feel. I can see how this could become an immersive  game that conveys an incredibly heart-felt  message. However the down side is also quite obvious: lack of tutorial and a beginning guide. I also believe certain gamification is needed to make "walking blind" a more playable experience. Anyway I'll see you at Post Mortem tomorrow *winked*.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! You’re right—the “walking blind” mechanic definitely needs more polish, and the “game feel” regarding the touch controls could be improved. We’ll carry these lessons forward to our next project! See you around!

Very nice level layout! And great design on the blind folded part, which really brings the narrative together. It would be great if you can add a tutorial, I found it a bit confusing at the beginning. The musuc is nice and atmospheric, but I do find the music of the chimes a bit repetitive.

Developer

Thanks a lot for catching our vision! Great feedback on the chimes. We definitelly should create some subtle variations to the chime sound while making sure it stays consistent.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! You’re right about the tutorial; we overlooked that part during development. I personally enjoy the “aha!” moment when players figure out puzzles on their own, but we will definitely try to provide more positive feedbacks, so players feel more confident in their progress~ Thanks for playing!
