Creative Vision / Rationale / How Did You Incorporate the Theme
The theme image provided for the competition references the hand gesture from Michelangelo’s painting *The Creation of Adam*. In the artwork, God gives life to Adam, yet their fingertips never fully touch.

This detail inspired my interpretation that human destiny is not something forcibly granted by a higher power, but something shaped through personal choice. Even when faced with hardship, individuals retain the agency to decide their own path.

Based on this idea, I created *Out Of The Desert*. The desert represents a state of inner struggle and real-life adversity. Through a card-based system, players are asked to make choices about how to escape the desert. Each decision reflects a different attitude toward reality, and these choices ultimately determine the player’s fate within the game.

First thing I tried to do was drag the "Are you ready to move on" card to the left, and I laughed when it quit the game. I'm super into the black and white pixel visuals of this game, they have so much personality. I agree with the other comment that suggested providing explanations for why stats change with certain choices. All in all I loved the sort of surreal feel to the game and the twist at the end. Good work!

I managed to get the most fun out of this tiny little game. Art is great a well.  Well done.

This is a neet game. It's not really clear why my choices had the impact that it did. Maybe a quick text pop up that says "you ignored the cat, this caused you mental damage" could help with the clarity in that regard. The art work and music was very evocative. Congrats on finishing.

Thanks a lot for the detailed feedback! That’s a really helpful suggestion and I’m glad you enjoyed the atmosphere and music—thanks for playing!

This remind me of the books where you have to choose your own adventures with choices, nice job

The animation and art are stunning! This is exactly the kind of theme I enjoy—it feels very philosophical. Making choices in response to the in-game questions brought back memories of playing the Rusty Lake series.

I chose to believe that 'everything is real' and successfully made it out of the desert in the end. Perhaps there are other endings worth exploring? This is a very meaningful and deep game! By the way, here is my own project: a puzzle game based on the mechanic of swapping NPC AIs. Feel free to play and rate it: https://keerzhu.itch.io/handshakeprotocol

Thank you so much for the kind words and encouragement! The game does have multiple endings, and you’re very welcome to come back and experience the other paths.
