Cool game! It got a bit tedious after a while with no way to move faster. I loved the radar mechanic with the rovers, very cool! I found myself staring down at the radar most of the time. I bet you could make it ping less frequently or give the player a limited use of radar scans. Maybe you could collect radar charges around the map as well.

Great job nailing the cold and unforgiving tone though. I felt really tense having to make the decision to move between certain mines while I was checking the radar.

Thanks for playing!! :D Yes, had plans to make the radar itself being run by a battery that you'd need to keep an eye out but unfortunately ran out of time to properly execute it ^^

Should be added by the time I finish the post Jam Update :D

Fantastic atmosphere. Looks and sounds great. It is a little funny watching this guy have a real rough go of it, stumbling around with his arm up, with the rather subtle weather effects. Maybe he just had a bit too much to drink trying to calm his nerves xD

Good looking game! Detail level of a PS2 game (maybe bilinear filtering would be cool, at least as an option).

Gameplay is also solid, a bit of Metal Gear Solid. I like driving the drones around, but I somehow wonder why I see all mines already on the radar? is that by accident? I assume I should only discover these with the drone, not upfront? It was a bit frustrating when I triggered a mine with a drone only so the detonation also killed me 😂. But that's on me.

Good job!

btw. I've rated your game, don't know why it claims you have 0 ratings t🤔

Maybe press save rating and refresh?? That's what I had to do for it to show (•ᴗ• )

Nah it was on purpose, I played testing on having the radar on just the drone and it wasnt the best experience to be honest, and the difficulty curve of only relying on the sound notif was too much for a jam entry, so I opted the radar to be available for the player but have the mines invisible to them. Did wish to implement a battery element to it at least but ran out of time unfortunately 🥹

Thank you for playing ^^

First off, mood set immediately! I love the main menu music. The camera pull to the character is chef's kiss. Managed to get all the way to the glowing panel and saved the peeps. Won the game on my own, then went in a second time with the rovers.

Some notes:

  • The rover mechanic was a little finnicky. I sent a rover out thinking, "Oh, I can use this to blow the mine," moved the rover to the mine - nothing.  Moved rover back and forth over mine - nothing. Confusion, lol. I move the character further into the mine field and try again with another rover. Little man goes up to a mine, explodes, and I died (≧▽≦)
  • The turning is a bit fast. Adding an option to adjust turn speed would be appreciated, but if that's on purpose, ignore me.

Overall, nice game with cool mechanics. Good job! ٩(^ᗜ^ )و ´-

Other Players Note:

For anyone else getting this error when extracting, double click the MineFreeze.rar file > Windows > Frozen.exe and you can play the game:

Thank you for the kind words!

Regarding the first point; Actually, it was an intended feature of having some of the mines as "duds" on a random basis, however I forgot to add a gameplay feedback so it does look like something is not right 😅 Thanks for getting it to my attention so I ll fix it post Jam ^^

Something to add to your player note as well; the file is very easily extractable with WinRAR rather than the Windows default one as I used a higher compression rate for the file :)

I couldn't rate your game before since it was the first game I played, but I made sure to come back and give you some love!
