The mechanic that highlights dangers is simple and brilliant!
I love the art the sound and especially the monter design, but I just find the job mechanic not to be very fun and too frustrating. The flashlight mechanic is think is great though
Hey, it's jump king! First of all, I see you! You did a pixel art game with a triangle-ish shape that spins around with the mouse and it remained pixelated!! Not many people these days do this, they have the pixels spin around and rescale like they're PNGs, so hey, good job! Mechanically, the jump and light complemented each other really well, and you eased it in to the player extremely well with the level design, the initial monster and spike placement was really good. I don't even know what to complain about, maybe locking the player's position while they're charging a jump would let us hold the direction we want to jump to right from the get go instead of making us try to push it as soon as possible, makes more sense with the puzzle-like focus of the game. I really like the art too, chonky pixels will always have my admiration, making these monsters with many teeth and eyes in so low res is extremely difficult, at least to me. Good job!
Really nice entry, a twist on the puzzle platformer genre where you have to "look where you're going", it fits the theme of the jam and it's short and gets the idea accross. Good job!
Edit: oh and +1 for art, loved it, simple but solid.
Super cool art and the jump and flashlight mechanics were great ideas!
Such a cool idea with the torch! Good job!
Great art and cool concept!
The artstyle is very nice, and the reveal of the monsters with the flashlight is a clever mechanic, forcing you to think about how you go forward instead of rushing.
I got stuck on the big worm thing though, I tried to charge the jump to jump over him when he passes by but I always failed and couldn’t get past.
Yeah sorry about that. My original intention with the worm enemy was to duck under it using the small cubby spaces, but I did notice that including those ceiling gaps made it seem like you should be able to jump over it as well. Moving forward, making my game’s mechanics more understandable is something that I'd definitely want to improve, thanks for the feedback :)
That was short and sweet! Saw it through to the end. Loved the flashlight concept and how I couldn't just rush to the end. Combined with the jump mechanic, forced me to be methodical about it.
The mechanic of the monsters blending into the darkness is very fun, and the art is very charming
