Was intrigued as soon as I saw the screenshots, looks most polished out of all the submissions. Trades seem too random, so not much strategy there, as others already mentioned. Also, I think the reset is too punishing, if it was -5 points I think I would consider using it :D

Very fun though, played it several times to see how high I can go :)

Thanks Maurko! Good tips.

Fun game! Great look to this game. It was pretty fun, but yeah, I end up just clicking on stuff and not reading what it said due to the time constraint. Was the idea to take your time because some of the trades are terrible ideas? Or was the idea to just beat on the buttons because in the long run you'll have a higher score?

Developer

Thanks! Originally the idea was to think about the choices but it's too much for a 30 second loop. I didn't adequately finish the logic that gives you the choices to make them more extremely bad or good (and cut out the neutrals ).

Yeah, that makes total sense! Always hard to predict how it will work until you try it out!

I, too, fell for the thinking trap, and only very late discovered the button mashing technique. I never needed the reset button.

Really fun little game. I also like the visuals a lot. It looks so simple, yet I bet there was considerable work involved. Really cool!

Developer

Thanks ElScorscho! It didn't feel like a ton of work but I definitely had to spend time simplifying it and probably could go even farther.

Interesting concept! I wanted to take my time to think about the trades, but the game sorta forced me to play "hot potato" style XD. I'm not sure if this was intentional, but the scroll wheel on the mouse also automatically makes random trades after I make the first click. I got a lot of cheese by just scrolling up XD.

Potahto already noted that the balance was a weak point in the description, but I also think adding a simple scoring graphic would help make this game more quickly understood and less button-mashy. Something like coffee > cheese > potato would be great. Then I'd know immediately I should be going for more coffees and less potato (which I didn't expect because of the devname, I thought potatoes were the most desired until I parsed out the numbers on the side lol!) I actually eat all these things daily, and thought they were healthy! Little did I know they can be considered junk foods XD! Is the green redraw icon vegetables?

I love the UI updating smoothly while playing, but as8mobius8 mentioned, once you get a lot of cheese, it's kinda hard to keep playing when you can't see the options haha. I also expected something rustic looking with "trader" in the name, but I liked the styling nonetheless!

Opps I think I still didn't understand scoring lol, potatoes are #1. Should have known XD

Thanks r.loo for the detailed feedback! Especially the scroll wheel bug.

The humble potato is one point each, cheese is 2 points, and coffee is 4 each. Healthy in moderation. 😅

I think the green icon is a weed or herb.... Just whatever I could find in the icon pack that looked negative.

I enjoyed making a game 100% with ui elements and teens, but I need to figure out some more about how ui works for sure. And the game logic and especially communication and pacing .

Thanks for playing and reviewing!

After reading the description that a viable option is to button mash, this game got very fun.

There is something goofy about getting enough cheese to block the entire UI screen with your score.

Thanks for this.

Haha thanks 8mobius8! I should have made it more button mashy and less thinky.
