Funny, sad, contemplative, inspiring, and wholesome. Really hits hard no matter if you’re a pebble or not. Lets all keep in mind: Any pebble, no matter its size, can make enormous ripples when tossed into a pond like hololive :D
alright, cute
Lore accurate pebble year.
WOW... just wow.
You managed to get the best of such a limited gameplay, you have my respect!
The story was really sincere and heartfelt, I loved it.
While it felt quite long at times... at the end I felt like it lasted as long as it needed. You have some sharp instincts right there, pebble!!
I was really happy playing your game, thanks ^_^
This is more of a playable story than a game, but that's the inherent beauty of it. I like that there were still sprinkles of jokes to smooth out the emotions. Definitely one of those experiences I'm not forgetting any time soon. Bravo!
Love the writing here, even if it forced me to confront feelings that I do my best to suppress for the most part.
Great job on the art, and I like that there's still some interaction in jumping, and singing once you get past the story telling.
I think the pacing is an interesting choice - I feel like it parallels the message of the game well, and it's not a big deal if you have something else to do in the background, or are really patient, but I can see how it would turn some players away. At the end of the day though, its obvious this is intentional, so I respect building the game to your vision.
And good work with Luca on the music, the chill vibes of this Rock In remix suit the game really well. Great work!
Cute game, i loved the message. There isn't much interaction so I can see how some people might not like it, but it does well what it's supposed to do.
Only thing I can't say I liked is the "ending". The game kind of sets up the player to patiently wait, and having the game not tell you when it's finished feels like it can get people to wait for nothing for more time than they would want. Just a little "thanks for playing" message or something at the end would wrap up the experience nicely.
Right in the meow meow.
I give this full points for innovation as I haven't played a platformer where you can't platform.
I liked the day/night cycle and the cute art!
Peak writing and the way the timer worked was a nice surprise.
Now, while I understand the pacing is important to convey the emotions of the storyline, I also wish the player was given the option to press a button to move the conversation forward at their own pace.
Finally, this is less of a game and more of a movie, since basically there's no meaningful player interaction (that I noticed).
Still a cool project!
This is so sweet! The message is really relatable as a creator, the art is cute and charming and the music is lovely.
I love Biboo's part in the credits!
So, what I am seeing here is an at least 12 minute movie pretending to be a 4 minute movie, in which nothing happens for literally %90 of the runtime, which then doesn't even end. That last point isn't just being flippant. With how long and how often this story paused for long periods with nothing happening, it was clear whether it actually had ended.
I don't think this benefits at all from the required timing. I think this would've been better with a click to continue system that just also sometimes "continues" with just visual effects. That would allow the viewers to choose a comfortable pacing for themselves.
(Note: I usually would say "readers" for vns and "players" if there's gameplay, but this only had viewing for the most part, hence "viewers")
I didn't know what to expect for a platformer with no platforming, but that was a sweet story, especially the ending. It wouldn't be a Biboo game without some brainrot too :D
This is unfortunately one of those scenarios where the rating categories doesn't do the game justice.
I'll just introduce new categories for me to rate your game with 5 stars in.
Inspirational: ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐
Relatability: ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐
Also, maybe you're just joking around with all the "bad art" comment, but your art is seriously charming. I wouldn't want it any other way with the games you make.
Okay go reveal a bit much, one of the first times I tried to put one of my projects out there publically and to see if I could sell it, someone made a video where they shit on the art I did for it. I knew my art wasn't great but it still really hurt. When getting back to game dev all these years later, it was always a comment which stung. But I ended up deciding to embrace it. Yeah my art is shitty so fuck you. Here's more of it. I kind of both leaned into some aspects of making it looking shitty while leaning into animations that would essentially balance out my own imperfections. I do like the style I settled on. But I still call it shitty as a fuck you embrace to hurtful comments years ago
🫂
Whoever said that has no soul. But I'm glad you managed to embrace the imperfections of your work, sometimes that could be a real struggle! Never stop making art, no matter how shitty people perceive it (pun intended). Fuck em. I love your art.
11/10, an absolutely fantastic masterpiece of a game, nothing can ever top- wait, are the talking noises just six and...-
1/10, an absolute monstrosity that should never have been made, how dare?
But seriously, the chill atmosphere is nice and somehow even the "shitty" art is kind of cute. And I'm always a sucker for a hopeful message.
I hope everyone in this jam can get the chance to show off and feel a bit special. It doesn't matter if it doesn't meet expectations, someone's sure to find something they resonate with and enjoyed from it, or to see the effort put into it. I hope everyone can find some friends to connect with and share with from this event.
Alright, I'm done being sappy now. And don't think I've forgiven the Six Seven thing.
This is one of those games where I feel what you get out of it is very dependent on how much you resonate with the game's message. And for me, I very much resonate with it. I was not expecting to be hit by feels and spend a solid chunk of time just... reflecting on our little Pebble's "adventure".
Honestly, I don't even know what sort of feedback I can give for this one...
However, I will say that Biboo's words of never giving up, and how she hopes to inspire others to be that way as well... I think that is very much reflected here. For that, alone, I'm thankful to have played this game.
Well done.
Edit: As I finished writing this comment, I looked back at the game at the... let's just say "positive 15 minute mark" and saw that all the platforms disappeared. Looks funny to see pebbles and Biboo just floating in the air now. They came back at about the 17 minute mark though. I think it has something to do with the platform assets not loading properly during a specific season change.
I don't think anyone else would keep their game running that long or if it really impacts anything by this point or if this is even a replicable bug but... figured I'd bring it up after seeing it just in case.
Jam winner right here. Love the ambiguity of the timer. Absolute masterpiece!
