I enjoyed playing it! It’s a nice relaxing game. The graphics are great. You did a great job animating the robot and the growth is satisfying to watch. I ended up getting all the upgrades. The story and game idea have potential for a complete experience.

Great submission, good job!

Thank you! I'm pleased with what I made, even if it's only half the game I envisioned.

You and New beginning had the exact same idea xD! /jam/godot-wild-jam-89/rate/4207379#post-15349301

Great job the sfx and screen shake really gave weight to the robot. I did notice the leg improvement was not fast enough to change gameplay. When I would improve the legs and before that I could only water two crop fields at the same time. If the legs were a bit faster I could do all three! Anyways, nice art this is a nice relaxing incremental game!

Developer

Thank you. This way my first attempt at keyframe animation, and I'm happy with how the legs turned out, even if they're a little slow...

Nice little game. Not a first war robot turned farmer on this jam, but still... Farming mechanics are fun.

I guess it's a genre now?

Submitted

I mean every genre has to start somewhere. :D

Very interesting premise and well executed. The grow animations are so smooth and satisfying to watch. It could definitely do with some music. This could definitely be expanded into a more complete game. Well done!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Rather than implement new mechanics, I spent a full day on the procedural plant growth...

Dude, I love this!

I can see you put some economics thought into the placement of the water, crops, farmer, and timing, too. Keeps things interesting.

Polish it up, add a few new crops and upgrades, and you could pretty easily throw this on Steam or Android.

Developer(+1)

Wow, thanks! I had big ambitions with this game, but they were cut short by other obligations. The game I imagined was significantly weirder than the one I ended up making. I had bigger plans for the war storyline…

I've never seen a side-scrolling farming game. That was an interesting idea. Loved the art. The sound design was really good too. I got all but the last upgrade.

While this was a novel game idea, I wouldn't have made it to the first upgrade if this wasn't a game jam. The robot moved so slowly and while it did give the feeling of an old ponderous mech, it made the gameplay loop very tedious. I also couldn't tell if watering really had any effect.

Overall, nice concept!

Developer(+1)

This was half intended, and half a function of having to finish the jam early. A side scrolling game was much quicker to make than a top-down game.

Watering doubles the growth rate and doubles the number of fruit harvested.

Very unique idea, easily the best theme implementation I've seen so far, well done!

Developer

Thank you!

Each upgrade make the next one easier to get, making the robot more and more acustom for the farmer job. you’ve done a great job on this aspect

Developer

Thanks!

I thought the idea was very original and I loved the visuals
played it through to the end and had a good time, the game was slightly repetitive and simple

great little cozy game overall, good work!

Developer

Thanks! I had lots of ambitious plans, but it got cut short.

This was a cute little game. I like the story. The gameplay loop was simple and easy to learn. The upgrades each helped get the next one faster, allowing the player to progress smoothly. Initially I was using the mouse for selecting choices. The little bit of white at the left side blended into the background and I didn't notice it until I looked for some kind of selection indicator. It would be nice if the selected option stood out more.

love the art style and the audio atmosphere!

Developer

Thank you. I'm very pleased with how the animation turned out. It was my first attempt at a walk cycle. Having the character be a mech instead of a human helps disguise all the little errors. Robots are allowed to feel robotic!

I loved this! Reminded me of playing games on Newgrounds. A simple concept executed well.

Developer

That's a great compliment, thank you!

Neat idea, I loved the sound of the robot, cool stuff !

Developer

He's certainly not a stealthy robot...
