Super fun game, I coudn't stop playing, I had to remove every single block even after the end. I wish there were some achievements, or meta progression on new game plus stuff like that, cause now I need more!

I don't mean it as a backhanded compliment but genuinely more fun than I initially expected it to be. When I started opening up the area I thought it would be a bit of a drag but it ended up being very well paced with perhaps the only snag being the 15 minute wait on the idea generators final upgrade when by that point the 200k ideas purchase was the only thing I had available.

Some of the assets could use a bit of polish regarding readability, the progress bars were not super visible on the darker blocks and structures like subconscious harvester somewhat faded into the background, though admittedly my eyesight is a bit on the poor side, but the overall style works and between balancing the resources and the simple artstyle it reminded me a bit of NGU Industry (in a good way).

Definitely one I'd like to keep an eye on outside the jam if you have further ideas as to where you'd like to take it.

For me, I got really stuck because when I place a building, I wasn’t able to get out of placement mode and E is the binding for both placement and selection.

A couple of things that would be really helpful:

  • As others mentioned, a small legend mentioning the keys, also, maybe not have the only button on help erase all progress
  • Consider adding that ESC is an option to disable/deselect a building to place, and also add some highlighting that shows whether something is upgradable or not.

And lastly, the art is really cute :)

A lot needs to be found out on trial and error. Don't get me wrong, that is not a problem. But every time I softlocked myself and needed to restart. If I would get back what I paid for a machine I would not have been locked. Because of the locking I don't really like the game. I see great potential though!

Developer

Thanks for your review :)
You're right, I wanted to have a little testing needed, and this was a bit too punishing with the softlocks. I'll work on it in the next update !

interesting idea! it felt satisfying to try to carve out areas for my base to expand.
However, for the 1st 4 tries I softlocked myself trying to figure out the rules =(

Developer

Thanks :)
The softlock is definitely something I'll prevent in the next update !

Very cute and dreamlike visuals. The controls are pretty clunky and I kept forgetting what the key bindings were - a little legend in the corner of the screen might be useful for someone like me? I think if it was more seamless to move around and place things it would be a really relaxing little game!

Thank you for playing !
Yep i'll work on the controls and add an overlay for the menus. This entry for the gamejam was a bit rushed at then end, I'll polish it :)
