This was an ambitious and creative game. The music was pulse-pounding. The voice acting added a lot to the exposition. The turn-based combat appeared to be well thought out.

I was confused by the red and green skills. They did the same thing, but I could only use the red ones. I played very conservatively because I didn't know health reset at the end of the level. On the third level the monster difficulty increased significantly. Something with 250 took me out even though I used all my items on it. I lost interest when I died. The voice acting was cool, but the sound levels weren't balanced when the level music was blasting, so was hard to hear at that point. I was at a bit of a loss as to how powers worked, how much damage creatures did, and they swung for a LOT. Some sort of tutorial or additional information about the game would have helped.

This game has a lot of potential, and is very impressive amount of work for a game jam.

I'm a bit sad because this game is so well done that with a little bit more polish (and probably more time) it could have been excellent.

First it is gorgeous to look at. The designs may be simple but they are following a given aesthetic which really nails it in my opinion.

Then let's give credit to the voice actors which are, i assume, amateurs. It's not an easy thing to do and the simple fact of trying deserves praises. It's not perfect but it adds to the universe immersion.

Now the gameplay. I'm a huge fan of Tactical-RPG games so how could i not love this game system ? It's simple and works well. The AP management is a real good idea which open a lot of possibility for both offense and defense. However it takes a moment to clearly get this due to the lack of tutorial. Especially for how (i assume) types works, there are no clear indication that Envy Attacks deal more damage on Greed enemies (i think ?).

Despite the lack of clarity and i greatly enjoyed my experience with the game.

Btw, did you really made everything yourself ? Even the music ? Because i really liked it and wished i could listen to it more.

On a side note, i suspect you left a demo level in the level pool since when you pick a Tharsis level you may encounter a zone with no enemy.

This game feels like a rough diamond. A lot of good ideas, well defined aesthetic and style but that overall lack just a tiny bit of polish to become excellent.

Congratulations on this one.

thank you it was 100% overscoped i know 😭its a shame i couldnt explain a lot of the mechanics or add actually gaining new moves and such due to both time constraints and trying to fly too close to the sun for this one but yeah music was done by somerandomgamedev not me but i do normally make my own songs and yeah envy does do more to greed we was going to do a whole cassette beasts like system where when a vain does something to another like envy on greed that vain triggers a "temptation" and applies poverty on the target making it gain 1 ap per turn but obviously thats even more scope, this is my first 3d game though so it was a big undertaking but im happy you really liked it, if you wanna join the server then go here i forgot to link it due to stressing on the last day https://discord.gg/r5Qyq54hh8

this is neat! i like how this looks a lot, although one of the levels the game spit me out on just had labels saying "1star" and "2star" sometimes. i like the concept behind this and i think it could make a really cool game if given more time to bake in the oven. there's some really cool strategies to do with the fact that items don't cost action points to use, but i think making the different skills you get meaningfully more variated than just doing the same thing but having a different 'type' would help with making the game even more interesting. i thought the font was a little hard to read and the text moved maybe a bit too slow, which can be inconvenient for people playing without audio. otherwise great job!

yeah so we were going to do gaining abilities and such but obviously the game was overscopped way too much 😭 ive heard a few people say that about a map its a shame it keeps happening i think i know why

You are so talented i could cry 🥹

Seriously though, if you didnt make such a largely scoped project and just settled on something easy to learn and web exportable I dont doubt you'd place well. Heck, you likely will place well in this jam just from visuals and art alone.

I got a bit lost on the first level which had no enemies and wasnt sure how to leave it, but played like 10 level and I would def wishlist this on steam if that means anything to you! I had to figure out a lot of the things myself (like type advantages, energy rollover, etc) and still am left with many questions like: do i need to follow just one path to the other side of the planet? Why do enemies hurt some but not other enemies?

But please dont let my vague critiques pull away from what you accomplished in just 9 days. As I said in the start, you are very very talented and this project just oozes your passion for being a dev!

I'm trying to play on a Mac and while I'm able to hear the intro and voice acting I'm unable to click on the Hell planet or advance from the first screen?? Not sure if it's a game issue or if it's just on my end though.

I'm sad because I saw the work in progress of this game on Discord and it looked so cool!! I was looking forward to playing

super impressive to get this all done in the jam, insane! the art is lovely, the polish on the interacts is great. i was a little confused on how to progress on the first level and what the '1 star' things were, but after that it was really fun. the vision + art style is so cohesive. and i appreciate that the voice acting / dialog occurs simultaneously with the gameplay! good stuff, seriously!

🥺thank you i keep making games that are really ambitious for the jams so i do keep needing to cut back but i think i got it to a good state in time happy that you enjoyed it

I think I accidentally came across a game breaking bug. The second level into tharisis brings me here. No enemies just infinite turns. It eventally kicked me out and let me continue however.

Looks like I couldn't upload the image but basically it had a bunch of text saying "2 star" and "1 star" everywhere :(

Other than that it is a very beautiful game. Couldn't quite figure out the purpose of envy/rage.

Developer

oh yeah the different vains have reactions such as envy doing double damage to greed, they were going to apply special effects but i didnt have enough time for that
