I'd love to know which of Lynch's works each of you is planing to take inspiration from in your contribution to the jam!

I'm drawing on all of them to some extent for the fine details, but the main theme of the game is ambiguous identity and I was mostly thinking of the sudden character changes in Mulholland Drive and Lost Highway when I came up with the idea.

I’m gonna take time to watch a film of his, probably Blue Velvet, and hope I can get something done in time!

My own inspiration is obviously Rabbits. Trying to track down the full version. Right now I can only find the edited down four episode version.

I'm excited to see what gets published. My game includes a tiny reference to rabbits, but otherwise is more like this other works.

Last year I did a game inspired by the dark dreamlike qualities of Inland Empire, Mulholland Drive, and Lost Highway.

I have less time this year so I'm gonna make a short shitpost game tentatively called DAVID LYNCH'S RETURN OF THE JEDI where you adapt a popular sci fi novel as David Lynch OR reimagine a popular sci fi franchise as if Lynch had made it (inspired by the fact that he turned down directing RotJ).

This is really fascinating and I love it.

That sounds like a lot of fun. I look forward to making Lynch make Dune. But a Dune in which Paul Atreides finds an ear in the sand and, during his investigation to find its owner, ends up kidnapped by joyriding Harkonnens.

I've been watching his movies in anticipation of the jam and will probably end up taking inspiration from bits of all of them and Twin Peaks. But the thing that I'm probably taking the most inspiration from is a passage from his book Catching the Big Fish:

"I used to go to Bob's Big Boy restaurant just about every day from the mid-seventies until the early eighties. I'd have a milk shake and sit and think.

There's a safety in thinking in a diner. You can have your coffee or your milk shake, and you can go off into strange dark areas, and always come back to the safety of the diner."

I took inspiration from all of them,  but didn’t copy settings, plot or characters… it is mostly a “hunch-feeling”… after reading the pdf a friend told me it feel home in a Lynch’s movie and I was overwhelmed with joy.

I agree with your friend! I think you did a good job of creating in Lynch’s vein.

My primary inspiration was Blue Velvet, but I didn't work fast enough so I mostly just got the surface level Americana and none of the subversion, lmao

Time for a second draft!
