Symbiosis โ€“ Time-Trial, Systems-Driven Strategy (Early Prototype)

Hey everyone ๐Ÿ‘‹

Iโ€™ve just put Symbiosis live on itch as an early, experimental build and wanted to share it here for feedback and discussion.

Symbiosis is a systems-driven, time-trial strategy game focused on efficiency, automation, and decay. Progress isnโ€™t about clicking faster — itโ€™s about understanding how energy flows through the system, where itโ€™s lost, and when intervention actually matters.

As systems come online, automation takes over. With time, entropy sets in, and the challenge shifts from growth to optimization under pressure.

๐Ÿ”— Play it here:

๐Ÿ“บ Gameplay video:

Controls (Prototype):

  • Left Click โ€“ Interact / inject energy
  • Automation Enabled (far right button) turns on all auto upgrades (can be individually controlled via each button on lower bar)
  • Space โ€“ Toggle Chill Mode (reduced UI, passive viewing)
  • Esc โ€“ Pause menu

UI panels can be opened or closed using the star icons, allowing you to switch between a minimal presentation and a data-dense strategic view.

Important notes about this build:

  • This is an early prototype focused on system behavior, not balance or polish
  • Some debug controls remain and may bypass intended pacing
  • No sound yet — audio and atmosphere are planned later
  • UI, pacing, and progression are still evolving as systems lock in

This page exists to gather feedback, gauge interest, and stress-test the core systems before any major content or balance pass.

If you enjoy experimental, systems-heavy strategy games, Iโ€™d love to hear your thoughts. Thanks for checking it out ๐Ÿ™

The UI feels a bit overwhelming at first, but iโ€™d definitely give it a try later. Keep up the good work, the project is very interesting !

It's getting there!! and yes.. data is king sometimes...
Hopefully I can get it perfectly balanced and have competitive timing runs when its ready!!
You can minimize all ui that you're not using with SPACE bar though or the little stars on each section
