I'm a sucker for analog horror games so when I saw this on itch I knew I had to play it.  So the game was pretty good and I very much enjoyed it, was a little short but all these type of games tend to be about 8-12 minutes anyway so its not really a criticism there. I never really watched The Smile Tapes so I'm not sure how faithful this game was to its source material but I definitely loved the uncanny aspect to the infected, theres something pretty disturbing to the fact that the Smile drug warps the facial features of people who consume it.

I agree with you. Analog horror games live or die on atmosphere, and this one nailed it. The warped facial features were easily the most disturbing part for me, especially because they felt subtle rather than overdone. Even if someone isn’t familiar with The Smile Tapes, the idea of a drug that slowly twists people visually and mentally comes across really well. For such a short experience, it left a surprisingly strong impression.

just wanted to put it out there because most people didn't understand the last jumpscare and looking back at it after years of making this game i kinda understand how it comes off as unnecessary and cheap (which it is a bit). I wanted as a last sendoff to give the "officer" a taste of what he is about to go up against, which is disturbing looking maniacs that are after him to kill him, in a nightmare-ish atmosphere.  To be fair the game was pretty much made in 2 weeks and the 1.1 update coming out in a couple of days since i never expected the game to gain any traction.  I was very limited with the storytelling since the  structuring of the game was extremely strict and non expandable, thus some parts felt cheap since the lore behind them wasn't properly explained. Overall was a nice experience developing it and a crazy surprise to me that ppl actually liked it. Maybe i give another similar game a try soon
