this is a pretty decent game. There’s not much to it though. I actually made a game where you sell hot coco for comfy jam autumn. It’s called hot coco loco (the previous game jam). It was a nice chill game with no real purpose good job on the collecting sound effect I think it sounds cool. Also is your screen transition taking a screenshot of last scene, placing it as a texture rect in a canvas layer via an autoload then using a dissolve shader to make the transitions?
thank you for playing! yeah i didn't have enough time to add as much content as i would've liked, i tried to spend a lot of time on the transition. oh wow what a coincedence haha!
nice question! not quite, i use a sceneManager scene via autoload to manage and play the transitions when going to the subwayEntrance and entering the next scene. i use an animationPlayer to create transitions that have me adjusting the parameters of the shader i followed a tutorial on. the tutorial for the shader can be found here:
Ah basically the same idea, yours just doesn’t support “crossfade” transitions. They have to make the whole screen a predefined image or in this case a solid color then from that into the next scene basically making fade to black but with extra steps.
yep exactly! i'm still learning about it myself, this was the first time i've actually properly done transitions haha
Hey! I had to go get some hot cocoa myself after playing this haha. For the trash part, it is not possible to predict where the trash will appear, would be nice if there was something for that. Great job overall!
thank you for playing! hope the hot cocoa warmed you up this cold season haha
that makes sense, i didn't think about detection of trash before it appears - currently the trash can't spawn within an invisible perimeter around and on top of the player so you don't immediately run into something (a little bugged as of rn), but thank you for the note!!
It's very nice and the transition is really cool, it would be good to have some more mechanics that make harvesting more difficult
Love the animated transition between areas! Good job!
thank you for playing!
I really like those simple graphics, they’re very cute.
thank you for playing!
You definitely nailed the transition, it was great! Personally, I would have liked a bit more of an incentive to get more cocoa, as someone else mentioned already, I think giving the player a speed buff or some other kind of reward would have been a good idea and made the game more engaging for longer. But overall, for 2 weeks of work, this was a solid game, good job!
thank you for playing! yeah i really hoped to have more incentive to get more hot cocoa and money, but didn't end up having the time to implement it. i appreciate the kind words!
What a cool transition and great pixel art! A simple and enjoyable experience!
thank you for playing!
The transition is so cute and the gameplay loop was satisfying, I would have loved if the hot cocoa gave you some sort of buff like increased movement speed, and more stages if you get more hot cocoa :)
thank you for playing! i definitely thought about adding some buff with the hot cocoa, but couldn't think of an idea i was entirely happy with - but i do like the ones you suggested! :D
A simple yet cute project! Really loved the transition animations. A little background music would have been lovely, but the core gameplay loop is there! So cool!
thank you for playing! cozy music was definitely on the radar, but didn't have enough time haha
First of all, that transition was absolutely adorable! It's actually my favorite transition so far, so great job! The art was great and for a two week jam, it's super solid. Would have loved some cozy music, but overall, very well done!
thank you for playing! i appreciate the kind words :) cozy music was definitely on the radar, but didn't have enough time haha
The trash wouldn't spawn after I came back from the market. I loved the art and the transition though. Overall, nice game!
thank you for playing! that's odd, the trash spawning was working for me but i will double check to make sure it's consistent - i appreciate the note!
No problem
Cute game! I liked the transition and the hot cocoa stand! Well done!
thank you for playing!
