Summarize your game!
~Controls are E, WAD, LMB, and arrow buttons.
~Cocoon is a virtual pet simulator mixed with a visual novel where a cosmic being suddenly descends to earth to deliver judgement. Judgement based on the care a single human can provide its offspring. You play Sage Montalvo, a reclusive character, who now has to care for a hatchling and not fuck up since the fate of the Earth (and her own) depends on how well she does.
~The mechanics involved are completing daily objectives and caring for your tiny cosmic charge.
~This game is less than 5 minutes since I spent a lot of the jam learning programming. So what I could manage was making sure all the essential systems work

Please explain how your game fits the theme.
The world is watching Sage and are unable to interfere due to the cosmic being’s forcefield of some type. They camp on her lawn, try to break into her house, dig through her life and history, try to intimidate/manipulate her into giving up the egg because they think they can do better. There will be people camping out as well as the government. Her parents will also cause friction. A reclusive person is suddenly having the whole world watching and depending on her not to let them get destroyed. Though some people will want the opposite and have the world destroyed.

Did you use Generative AI to make any assets in your game?
no

short and simple. I liked it

Developer

Thank you for trying out my rough prototype!

Fun game. I like the player character's wrapped in a blanket stress/depressed vibe, but you still have love for Pepperoni. The creepiness of having paparazzi outside your window is unnerving. Got to be reminded to feed yourself.

Developer

Thank you for playing, commenting, and enjoying the vibes! Definitely expanding on the creep factor in future iteration of the game.

Really like the art style. Sounds fit well. Quite short, would be cool to expand.  Neat game!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing and commenting!  There are definitely plans on expanding on this proof on concept. I have a lot of rewriting to do. Lol

Playability:
Easy interactions and no issues playing the game. Nice work!

Theme:
This could definitely be expanded but I feel that you set up the world setting really well. Would love to see this tie into gameplay more.

Cleverness:
Interesting use of tamagotchi style mechanics. Keep expanding on this!

Artistic Style:
I love the sketchy art style. Looks great and consistent throughout.

Developer

Thank you so much for your  feedback! Definitely will be continuing to expand on the gameplay and learning programming!

very cute, loved the art and little animations. Also nice additions for interaction key highlights.

Developer

Thank you so much for the kind words and thank you for playing. I didn't have much time but wanted at least a couple of cute animations to add a bit a personality for such a short experience so I'm glad you liked them!

Cute little game, I loved the art style and I would die for Pepperoni!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing! Pepperoni is pretty much the best little guy, thank you.

Such a cute art style! Very well done especially for learning how to program during the jam.

I fear I may be emotionally attached to Pepperoni, would love to see this get expanded on!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing! Yeah, I didn't really expect to meet the deadline but I turned 7  game days into one day and said let's just get something working. It so great hearing your complement because I was happy it just wasn't crashing everywhere.  Lol. Don't worry somehow I'm emotionally attached to Pepperoni as well, and I will have to  do him justice.

cool art. when i first got out of bed i watched the character for like a full minute thinking i was trying to dance the depression away

Developer

Thank you so much for playing! Yeah sometimes the dance of the heart (and definitely not me not setting up the sprite  walking animation quickly) is what keeps the darkness away. Lol.  You did make me realize I forgot to put a movement prompt in so I am adding that to the task list today.
