Is your game set to public on itch.io so we can see it?
Yes

Summarize your game!
Artistic Theater is a point-and-click experience where you play an artist on stage who has to keep the audience entertained by redrawing shapes and hitting objects in time.

The only control is the mouse and his left button.

Please explain how your game fits the theme.
The Game plays in a theater with a lot of people watching your performance. The Game goes on while there are people who are entertained and are watching. If they leave and no one wanna watch you anymore the game will end.
If you lost your watchers

Did you use Generative AI to make any assets in your game?
Nope

Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
Keep up the good work and keep inspiring people to make games!

Playability:
Works a bit awkwardly on a mouse but with a pen it's great. Could use visual or auditory feedback about when you are correctly drawing the shape.

Theme:
Ties to the theme directly with gameplay. I like the idea of this being a performance in front of an audience.

Cleverness:
Incredibly clever idea that could be great for drawing warmups with a digital pen. Keep working on this and it could be something awesome.

Artistic Style:
Detailed, consistent, and pleasant. Great work!

Thanks a lot for playing and giving feedback! ^.^
And thanks a lot for the encouragement!

Interesting idea that could be portable to touchscreen.  Really needs a continue without having to close and relaunch, especially with no feedback.   Art is pretty cool.

Developer

Thanks a lot for playing it!

yeah at first I didn't thought about the portable touchscreen. The first thought was more a precise concentrating mouse movement without scare and only try to "redraw" shapes good.

also thanks for the feedback about a retry button! First time hearing it and didn't really thought of it but yeah makes a lot more easier to replay or retry. >.<

Great job on the art in this game it is so is so cute. It took a few retries tries for me to trace the shapes and I got as far as the circle. I drew along the circle around five times and lose every time.  I may suggest 2 things to help the player. 1. An indicator to know that you are drawing and where you are drawing. 2.  I read some other comments just now and it seems like a pen tablet works so it seems like it requires more precision than a mouse. Maybe a bit of forgiveness around the areas where you calculate the shape as being a successful draw.  Otherwise, this game has a lot potential and I hope y'all keep up the good work!

Thanks a lot for the feedback and playing it!
And yeah, I should have paid more attention the the feedback and give the player more feedback >.<

About the drawing with a tablet was interesting, a mate of mine tried to test it on his phone and gave me some simliar feedback to improve it on phones but yeah. crazy crazy >.<

Had a similar problem with the drawing with a mouse but feels really nice to play using a drawing tablet. I like the idea and the art is very cute. Other than maybe needing to have some kind of line to show where the player is drawing nice job!

Developer

Thanks for playing!

And thanks for the feedback! and yeah better visual  feedback is a good point!
But kinda crazy never tried it out with a drawing tablet! crazy didn't expect that it really worked with that! wow

gave it a try on a laptop, and had a similar drawing problem. I don't know if I completed any drawing sections or not, I know I definitely failed at least one of them. Seems like perhaps there isn't any visual feedback to what part of the circle has been colored in. The art looked solid though!

Developer

Thanks for playing it!

And indeed a visual feedback where you already went threw with the mouse needs more feedback.
The only feedback we got was currently the Sad face on the right bottom if you are going out of the shape

And if you successfully done it, there should be a confetti and a smile face on the bottom left.

Thanks a lot for the feedback! I'll try to make some better feedback next time >.<

I couldn't get the drawing to work, is there a trick to it or is the version broken?

Developer (3 edits)

Thanks for testing! >.<

Your Mouse have to be in the bluish zone, if you get out of it you kinda have to retrace where you droped out.
You can try as much as you want until the times runs up.

It should feel like the mario party game, where you get a pencil and try to draw the lines, but with your mouse. Precise is the key :3

But thanks for the feedback! Should have made a better indikater and maybe rly make some paint to visually see what the player missed to fill out. >.<

I tried that, but I never got it to activate. I can make a short video showing later, if you want?

Developer (1 edit)

if you have enough time yes, would interest me where it breaks :3
With the mouse movement if possible ^.^
Just thinking if maybe the hitbox is delay with other screen sizes. but should resize it good i thought... only have my pc to test it X.X

But yeah definetly will bring in more feedback next time ^.^

I originally tried it in Firefox, so tried Chrome now and got it working. So tried Firefox again, and it worked. So it was just a skill issue on my end, and I had to be a lot more precise than anticipated. Sorry for the incorrect bug report...

But now that it did work for me, I think the major piece of feedback I have, is to give some kind of visual feedback to the player when drawing.  Maybe also some animations on the character when you complete a level. But otherwise, I like the concept.

Developer

Ah thanks a lot for trying out again!
And yeah definetly better feedback would be good.
Thanks a lot for the feedback!
