What fun! I really enjoyed it. The controls just need some improvement because they’re a bit tricky. Could you rate my game as well? Thanks!"

Developer

I’m glad you enjoyed! I agree I would like to come back and hone the controls more. Of course I can!

Submitted

great idea for a platformer but felt a bit awkward to play because the character never went where i wanted it to. very impressive for a first game tho you did a good job:)

Developer

Thanks! I was happy to add a new twist to it so it was more unique for a platformer. The jump mechanism isn’t perfect for sure looking back I can see some ways to make it better.

This is your first game???

HILARIOUS name, funny gameplay, very cool adventure

my minor complaints:

you're basically forever in flow state during the game (if you just hold right click) which makes it pretty easy

A little weird having to move your mouse in a game you can't put in fullscreen

the main character sprite has a little red thingy, sign of incorrect sprite sheets

A lot of noise pollution with those sound effects...

Developer(+1)

I’m glad you like the style! I went for a flashgames feel and I loved it haha. I definitely need to strengthen my audio skills, and I’ll have to learn more about godot too. Haha yeah I noticed you could always be in a flow state and I liked that too much to fix it haha

The background music is great but the sound from the guitar make my ears kinda hurt lol (I guess it was my fault for just dragging the mouse left and right repeatedly XD). Ok I'm just kidding this game is very good I enjoyed it a lot :) The concept is amazing as well as the level design. Overall a fantastic game :D !

Developer

Thank you! I’ll have to play my game with high volume next time to be sure, these rock and roll ears might be desensitized though haha.

What a unique way to move a character, it's real fun!
I noticed the music notes you spawn with the mouse right click follow the character's movement, was that intentional?

Developer

I’m glad you liked it! That wasn’t intentional but I’m guess it’s because their tied to 2d nodes on each side of the character. I also loved your game it’s very fun!

Submitted

Thanks, I'm happy you liked my game too!
A-ha! I figured that was the case, probably because you're doing `character.add_child(song_note)` (example code).
You could add the notes as siblings, or add as child to a static parent (like your "world" node), or simply set the note's node to `top_level`.

A hardcore game. You created a great challenge with that unusual jumping mechanic. And I like the background music. Has anyone completed this game?

Developer

Thanks man! One tip that helped when I was playtesting it was to have short bursts with your wrists. But I think I need to dial in the controls a bit to make it more responsive.

Achei legal, bem original e indiferente.

Nooo! I thought I was the only guitar game. Really cool way to make you jump.

If you spam the right mouse button on the browser version you'll get sent to a different page (at least on my browser). Not a fault with the game, just a web fault. I liked the different areas, the best area was probably the sewers, just because it was completely different and unexpected (I liked the messages too). It was pretty cool, if there were maybe a few variations of how you used your guitar that could be good. Maybe if there were some different enemies that forced you to move differently, anything like that. But otherwise I thought the way to control the player's jumping and platforming was super unique and I think unique things are good.

A little more length for the overall game though!

Developer

Thanks so much for all the kind words! I really enjoyed trying something different but it does cause some issues for sure haha. I agree more meat would have been great for this game I didn’t realize how much of a time crunch I was on haha. I will definitely check out your guitar game too!

That was awesome! I managed to get the left mouse button to stick, which gave me mega jumps the whole time! BUT! I wouldn't call it a bug—more of a fun feature. On the downside, the FX guitar is louder than the music. I think the music should be at volume 0.5 and the FX guitar at 0.3—that would be much more pleasant. Other than that, I genuinely had a blast! 🤘🤘🤘

Developer(+1)

Thanks man! There were a few ‘features’ I found along the way like being able to keep the flow state topped up when it’s going down. I thought if it was fun to break it was fun to keep! Yeah I definitely need to work my skill with audio and UI for my next game, I hope the audio didn’t steer anyone away. Glad you had a blast!

I think the concept was so creative and fit the flow theme in a way that was clever. I don't think there was a strong theme for the two color limitation per sprite but that's just how I interpreted it. I think the only real problem I had with it was trying to figure out the jump. But besides that I really liked the game and it's impressive that it was only done with one person. Thanks for sharing!

Developer

Thanks for the kind words! It was a lot of fun trying a new mechanic for jumping but it did make for some interesting errors that for sure. Thanks for playing!

I encountered 2 major bugs while playing :(

In some cases game still think I hold Left Mouse BUtton even when I'm not and makes character constantly jump.
And platforms don't let me jump from below them, but don't hold me on them when I drop on them from above, I don't even know how thats can be possible

But theme is quite interesting cause I alos was late to this jam

The music is extremely loud, and the jumping system is somewhat peculiar. (However, it may be that I did not understand it.) Overall, it is a good game from what I could see. :)

Submitted(+1)

Interesting concept, but I had a hard time controlling the jump.

Submitted(+1)

wow i love the music choice!!! the controls are also really fun and it makes it easy to get absorbed in the game!!!

Submitted(+1)

its weird cuz you jump with dragging but you also jump higher with wiggling so i just dont know my character is going to do when i jump and move my mouse.

Submitted(+1)

Great game! The jump control is quite difficult, hahaha:D
