Really good backstory for a minimum viable product. I liked the map layout, too; wish you had more time to get this roguelike to be like coding whether through even more layout stuff or even just glitches. I also liked how your layout led to me coming up with techniques to progress better next time.
I really didn’t have problems with my controls (Brave) like others did.
One thing I would suggest is adding a coin, a white bug, and a blue bug in the starting room each behind a wall yet visible.

How long was your dev time?
Took longer that I hoped, definitly not in 3 hours.

Glad you liked it! When making the map I tried to divide it into areas; a start area with easy bugs, two areas with progressively harder bugs and finally the AI area with just a lot of bugs in it. There wasn't time for more polished design, graphics, styling, animation, etc. But I hope to find some time to give this little game some love in the coming months.
I like the idea of a 'showcase' at the start of the level. Thanks!
Nice description! I really liked the progression from having to fear for your life and pick carefully where to go to being more powerful while still having some kind of risk. The controls where a bit clunky however, especially the turning speed, I would expect it to be instantaneous.
The game is quite difficult considering the attack's cooldown and range, but I really like the idea: being able to choose characters and having each of the three attempts be easier is great! I had trouble launching it via Firefox; Edge worked better. The Shift key didn't do anything for me, but I have an AZERTY keyboard, not QWERTY, so that might be a factor.
I absolutely loved the description, and relate to it a lot hahaha. But unfortunately I couldn't play the game on the browser (firefox), I couldn't select any character (not even the intern).
This is pretty good. I like the variation in character types, though the first one is *really* bad compared to even the next one up. I think there are a few things that would make this game a lot better with little effort. Sound effects are a big one, e.g. picking up coins, bugs dying, etc. I recommend https://sfbgames.itch.io/chiptone. A floor texture would have been good too, particularly in the AI area as I found I was wandering around with no indication of whether I was actually moving as I couldn't see any walls. There also didn't seem to be any way to win? Unless I missed that? I think I collected all coins and got rid of all bugs. Overall though, this was a really solid entry and was enjoyable to play.
