Have you checked that your GDD is publicly accessible ?
Yes!

Is your game set to public on itch.io so we can see it?
Yes

Summarize your game!
You are in charge of leading an underground city of cryptids. Your goal is to complete your doom laser so you're able to invade and take over the surface world!

However, you're not ready yet! If you spark too much attention, or awareness, the humans will decide you are a threat and destroy your civilization!

Mission will start appear on your board. Click on them to learn what type of abilities they require. Select your best agent to send out to perform the mission. If they aren't the perfect fix, there's a random chance they'll fail the mission.

Complete your doom laser before the humans destroy you!

Please explain how your game fits the theme.
There are two key parts to this theme, World and Watching.

World
This term can be taken to mean the encapsulation of an environment. Someone who stays at home would consider their house to be their world. Our interpretation includes the entire world, but it specifically refers to the entirety of the surface of the world.

Watching
What does it mean to be ‘watched’? Does someone need to have eyes directly upon something for it to be watched? Something that is frequently checked is also referred to as watched. In other words, watching is the act of perceiving or being aware of something. Our game incorporates the concept of awareness in our core gameplay mechanic; avoid being watched to win.

Did you use Generative AI to make any assets in your game?
Absolutely none!

Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
The game is not supposed to be hard. We tried to make the theme a light-hearted romp without having to be a hard core gamer. Take your time, don't stress too much, and just have a fun time! Thank you for checking out the game!

Playability:
Simple to understand spinning plates style gameplay but with tons of automatic pausing to make it easier. Would be nice to see more visual indicators as to mission style or variety here.

Theme:
Less impact from the theme on this one but that's ok. Would be good to see more connection with being watched or watching others in some way.

Cleverness:
Love the idea of using cryptids as agents. Could turn out to be a very cool direction and is definitely something you should explore. Keep playing with this!

Artistic Style:
Simple UI elements and fun portraits. Everything felt consistent with a bit of style on it.

Thank you so much for playing my entry! The team had a great time participating in this jam and we all learned a lot!

I personally will always keep trying to learn more about game development and do more game jams!

The game play was engaging I did feel like I had to pick whom I sent wisely.

I didn't see the missions going off to the right, so I got behind pretty quickly. There is a lot of vertical space so maybe you could stack some of them there?  I know that kind of gets in the way of the mission breakdown and the agent breakdown. maybe have missions pop off as you win/lose so more room can be made for the new ones?

I like the art style of the characters and of the GUI as well.

Good job to you and your team?

Developer

You hit a weak point for sure!

You can actually dismiss missions after they’re completed! This will make sure new missions actual show as they’re popping up.

We should have taken a lesson from dispatch and require the user to review the mission status before the agent was available and thus forcing the dismiss. OR some other type of UI/UX as you suggested.

Thanks for playing our game and taking the time to leave a comment!

Okay went back and tried that and that does in fact resolve the problem I was having!

Fundamentally Dispatch at its core.

I think for it to work, narration about the mission and its outcome is necessary. Otherwise the mechanics itself would be just ABCDE alignment.

Developer

Fair enough! We would have liked to have made it more uniquely mechanically and not so similar, but in two weeks, it fell out of scope, owell.

Thanks for playing and taking the time to comment!
