It was a bit disorienting to move around at an angle, but overall good. I would add more stuff plus sounds and music

Solid foundation for further work, especially for your first game! Keep it up :)

The game is interesting visually, the artsyle is cute and the isometric effect is well done.

Not much gameplay unfortunately, but having still managed to do that in 2 weeks if it is your very girst game is a good start, so keep going !

To make for a true roguelike experience though, the character movement should be tile-based, for now it seems we can slide along walls and end up between tiles.

I see you has a list of things you didn't added to the game and, as someone who overscope ideas and ruin my own games, I have to say that your game is in a great shape already. The visuals are great, the character vibes are on point, the movements are pretty satisfying... it just feels good to walk in the map! The movement foundation is amazing.

I don't think there is anything wrong with submitting something incomplete or "buggy". So don't be so hard on yourself. And thanks! I do intend to try and complete the game tho, with all the systems I originally wanted to add. I'm glad you like the movement, I worked very hard on that! xD I indeed learned a lot doing isometric movement.
I have learned simple side scrolling movement in a course i got on gamedev previously, so I wanted to do something more challenging. It was a good time. I'm still working on the project, and I have actually transformed my movement under the hood. It will probably be a tad bit better as a user. lol We using states now!! :o

I only realize I need states for the charecters/objects after the third or fourth "if" statement I put on my player code! And now I am excited to see this next version of the game.

First of all congrats on your first game! The slime is really cute and the isometric effect is pretty cool. I like the healthbar design, very fitting with the world.

Developer

Thanks! I wish i could have started much sooner, because I definitely would have gotten more done. But I'm proud of what I have submitted.

Nice isometric designs and I think this is the only isometric game for this jam, so it's cool to see. Reminds me of old-school games, Habbo Hotel fixed perspective isometric stuff. I've been designing a game with isometric movement and come across an issue you've probably encountered: directions work diagonally which can be tricky for a player to initially adjust to. Otherwise, there's basic functionality here but hopefully a little more work to integrate gameplay elements: be they puzzles or enemies, to complete the idea. I hope you're able to continue refining this as this is a very endearing visual design!

Developer

Thanks for the kind words. I do intend to at least "complete" the game! I actually have just refactored my movement scripts to use states instead, I think i made the movement even better! I just learned them. ^^

The game looks very cool, i like the isometric perspective and the movement feels nice once I got used to it.
However it feels fundamentally incomplete

Developer

Thanks. Indeed it is. But there is a death screen, you can die... and get to try again or quit. hehe

Is there a way to go down the staircase? E and walking on it didn't work

Developer(+1)

Yes. if you keep walking across it, it will eventually let you go down. its wonky still. sometimes its sensitive, and responsive. and sometimes it takes a lot of convincing, but it will.

Developer

All you need to do is walk onto the stairs and it will go to next floor. lol You basically fall down the stairs when it works perfectly.
