I love the concept of this classical Roguelike : classical graphics with ASCII tiles but modernized with diagonal movement, goofy sound effects, damage numbers showed and spinning dying enemies.
The game is very good and has everything we can look for in a Roguelike : a working inventory, health and hunger management, a good procedural dungeon and angry “g” attacking you.
I still died of hunger, I am gonna try to finish the game in a new run, maybe I need to look for corpses or something like that.
Congrats on a great game !
Really fun sound effects, had some laughs in between! Enjoyed exploring the dunjin, movement was a bit off for me, but all in all a very nice entry! :)
love the sound effects, and everything else overall amazing game. The only gripe i have is that go down is x and wait is s, i kept pressing s and taking damage when enemies came from below
I really enjoyed it—probably the closest adaptation to the original game in terms of gameplay and presentation. The addition of intentionally rough audio effects, seemingly created using the developer's own vocalizations, was a unique and fun touch. That said, the game desperately needs better balancing and depth, both of which are tied together. There's essentially no progression system beyond acquiring equipment, which means that unless you're extremely lucky with gear, food, and enemy spawns (I once encountered two mobs in a single room), the game quickly becomes too difficult—or even impossible—to complete.
I need more trolls in my diet. This game is changing lives and improving my overall physiological and, by extension, mental health. Troll over.
i could genuinely confuse this for the real rouge, if you gaslit me enough id think why do modern rougelikes dont have funny voices when you get hurt and bodies you can pick up but not use for some reason, those sorts of elements would add a lot to more modern rougelikes, jokes aside really great game but a song in the background or any more sound design wouldve been great

I played this for far longer than i planned too, well done.
The aesthetic is amazing, and after finding out the audio is all made by the developer, I'm sold on the charm. This has the bones of Rogue for sure, given a more modern polish while keeping the old-school character aesthetic intact. I want to see more content :D
You put a lot of charm into the game, all the sound effects, descriptions, UI - great work! I really like how you made the title with the ascii art, very fitting. It is a fun experience, quite close to rogue
I think you met the brief perfectly: a glorious exercise in minimalistic design that's probably the truest to the pitch to create something characteristically Rogue! There's plenty of character here too, with the funny sound effects, unorthodox stats, random item drops and hunger-based survival mechanic. Not overly complex nor overengineered, just some very smooth movement and combat, a few laughs and a straightforward, accessible roguelike design. Feedback wise, no point recommending more stuff when this does exactly what it sets out to do and plays like a charm. Great stuff.
Great w/ adding these arcade adjacent sound effects!
