Can I have it start on a happy ending then tell the story of how the main character got there (its a main part of my game and not sure if that counts as a happy ending?)
I don't see why that wouldn't count, it still ends on a happy note, yes? I think you should go for it

yeah, that sounds fine. it still has a happy "ending" but the story is told out of chronological order.
