This is a gem with so much character! Having to balance a trench coat full of goblins was mischievous as hell. Such a cool idea! The bumbly music fit so well for the first half, and so did the frantic music of the second half. The switch up for the second scenario was great. It reminded me of games I played as a kid where sections of the game would have a completely different set of controls and mechanics all in the name of fun. I would love to see more of what these goblins get up to. Great work, and thanks for the game!

Thanks for playing!

I appreciate all of your kind words and it really encourages me!

Such a unique idea! I love the balancing mechanic-  it feels extra slick when you save yourself from falling at the very last second. I need more levels because I don’t want to stop playing!

Developer

Thanks for playing! I'm very glad you've enjoyed it!

Level 2 is hard!! But I completed it. Well done! The game reminds me of a coloring book. A lot of these comments mention the sound effects and I have to agree. I love how chaotic it was. The art is cute and the gameplay is fun and doesn't overstay its welcome. Good job!

Developer

Thanks for playing!

Yea, it is pretty chaotic, but not all of it is by choice :)

But with the experience I've gained from this jam, I hope to make more cohesive and intentional games.

Truthfully, I really loved the lil soundtrack and all the sound effects! They are beyond cute. It's probably my favorite part of the game! You've created a super addicting game and it's a feat to be proud of. I keep finding myself coming back to this just to mess around a little more each time. If there was a score board I'd probably be top 3 by now! The colorful art adds a lot of interest too. I hope that you keep making more games, you've got the special touch!

Developer(+1)

Wow, thanks! This means a lot!

I didn't imagine that even 1 person would enjoy it this much, haha.

This is a huge encouragement for me, thanks!

But yea, I didn't have time to add any replayability or at least a scoreboard, but I hope for future jams I will do better.

Aw, of course! Hopefully I'll see you at the 2027 Big Mode Game Jam!

I just gave you a follow! I'll keep an eye out for any of your future submissions!!! :)

I was preparing to ragequit early but thank you for the checkpoints. Funny interpretation of the theme. The ending bit feels like a victory lap, nice way to end it.

Developer

Thanks for playing!

I didn't think of it like that until now, but yea the 2nd half is like a victory lap.

As for the checkpoints, they were the only way I knew how to balance the game to an enjoyable level.

The cutscene art was super cute and the game was genuinely fun! Like afoddian game that turns into hapy wheels halfway through? MASTAPIECE

could talk about the gameplay, but... the story is clearly a metaphor for class struggle within developing nations. I think you've got a Pulitzer coming your way.
Also, I thought the goblins actually took the olive oil at first and was thrilled. It just feels right that goblins would thirst for the oil.

Developer

Thank you! I will remember your when I make my acceptance speech!

Very cute and fun art style. I really liked the characters and the story setup.  The only downside for me was the difficulty of balancing the characters, I would prefer it a little bit more forgiving to ease the learning curve, but I like that there are plenty of checkpoints to compensate for the difficulty. All in all, a joyful entry in the jam.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing and for the feedback!

It was pretty difficult to balance this, because while designing the movement, I've become an expert at using it.

But it seems the checkpoints made up for my skewed perspective.

Submitted(+1)

Thank you for being so forgiving with those checkpoints! It made my experience much better. I really like the idea, the balance would get a little weird sometimes, but thanks to the checkpoints it was a great time

Developer

Thanks for playing!

The balancing was hard to make feel right. I can't say I'm 100% satisfied with it.

Maybe I should of scrapped the 2nd part and made the balancing perfect.

The weird feel might be because I also have added 2 random impulses that change from time to time.

I loved the unique 'children in a trench coat' feeling and controls that was slick! The goblin roll was difficult at first but I managed to make it through! Nice Job! :)

Developer

Thanks for playing!

The roll was a little difficult for me to balance. At first it was even harder, but I had someone test it and  I nerfed it.

I'm glad  you've made it through!

Great game! I’ll be honest I was confused about the first door for a bit, I wasn’t sure if there was a control I was missing since when I pushed into it I kept seeming to move up into the ceiling and die, once I figured out how to lean into it properly it was fine though - I think the odd collision is what confused me. The art style was great and I think the mechanics overall were really good though. The forgiving checkpoints were definitely a good call for a jam as it made it easier to experience the whole thing while still having some challenge. Well done!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing!

Totally fair feedback. I had a feel the door could be confusing.

Originally I wanted to also have voice acting and to have the goblins say to knock out the door with the hands, but I didn't end up adding that.

I'm glad the checkpoints at least made the experience enjoyable.

Now I'm hungry. Very slick, thanks for the checkpoints.

Maybe you can order something if you haven't eaten your phone already :)
