How does your game represent "Slick"?
There is nothing slicker on this godforsaken earth then frozen roads in a Canadian winter. I took that Idea and made a little world where you are a fox (the slickest of animals) exploring an environment of ice and snow. But where does the grapple come in? I'm glad you asked. The next slickest thing in this world aside from frozen roads, is interesting game movement, and grappling hooks are fun. Thank you for coming to my ted talk,

Slickly yours, Eeby

Could use a bit more polish for the movement, but otherwise very fun to move around.  I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of content included considering the time constraints.  Bonus points for all of the unique side-foxes to talk to.  Minus 0.1 points for the 15 minute wait not having a roast at the end.

Developer

Yeah I realized after exporting that I didn't account for delta time properly in my controls, so everything felt much floatier in the release I put out WHOOPS. Thanks for playing my game, I will make sure to update the 15 minute fox to say something rewarding lol

The grappling mechanic was pretty fun to work with, and I enjoyed searching for gems throughout every nook and cranny. The ice-skating felt a bit awkward at first due to it’s tank-like controls, but I did get ahold of it. The NPCs were also fun to interact with, as well, and there were plenty throughout the level.

Im glad you enjoyed my game! Awkward movement seems to be a very common note I have been getting and I very much agree

I really enjoyed exploring this world you built and trying to find all the gems and the unique fox dialogues. There was a grappling hook so I was already sold from the beginning but the joy of finding another silly line from a fox definitely kept me going to the end! I ended up with 37 gems if you needed a count still, and Failed Texture Fox was my favorite. Happy little accidents are one of the true joys of game development. Thanks for submitting!

Developer

Aw this made me smile a lot, thank you for enjoying my game! 37 sounds just about right from my count as well, though i think there is a gem floating off in the aether somewhere out of reach too lol

I really enjoyed this game. The grappling and sliding mechanics were really fun and I got a lot of enjoyment from the fox dialogue

I like the vibes but like others have mentioned could use a little polish for the controls. I also talked to the fox that told me to hold R to restart but I don't think that works, so I had to quit and load up again to continue. Something about the world has a lot of charm!

Yeah respawning only works if you set a checkpoint at one of the purple rock things. One of the first fixes i would make to the game would be making a default respawn point for the character

I can see what you were trying to do. The theme is definitely there—so much so that I kept falling out of the world a few times, and I’m glad I figured out how the checkpoints worked XD. I really enjoyed the comedy you put into the characters.

Overall, the game is there, but to be honest, it could use a bit more polish.

Good luck with your future projects!

Developer

Thanks for the luck! And yeah i agree this project would need a lot more polish

The skating felt a bit rough to me at first. The camera also did a few strange maneuvres (but it righted itself, thankfully). The "slick" theme was implemented really well. I like the idea a lot. Once I got used to the controls, it was pretty fun. I think it could use a couple more checkpoints, but that might be a skill issue on my part. Speaking of checkpoints, I fell off before activating the first one and just kept falling forever. I had to close the game completely. It would be nice if there was an option to return to the menu or restart the level (maybe there is and I didn't see it). I like the audio. The foxes are cute. I see a lot of potential here. Nice work!

Thanks for playing my game! Yeah i think the skating part was on of the weakest parts of my game because of how floaty everything is by design. The camera and initial save point issues were things i was aware of, but ran out of time before i could tune up whoops. I am glad you had fun playing ^-^

I totally understand! We all have to do whatever with can within the time constraints.

I mean it's a little jank but it's cute and whooshing about always feels rewarding. Could make a hell of a rage game with a few tweaks.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad it had some rewarding movement.
