How does your game represent "Slick"?
we have had this idea for a gear shifting mechanic for a while now and always thought it was slick. also you can get a "SSSlick" combo (super cool) and you can also drift. hopefully you find it slick enough too :)

This game was hilarious to play. I was confused when so many fish started pushing me around but it made me so fast I couldn't help but laugh. The music fit the game really well especially with the graphics and the environment which I thought looked great. The shifting mechanic was really good when I figured out how to work it properly. I ended up getting a score of 481492 and the sound effects while getting those points are super satisfying.

From one vehicle-based game to another: great work!

Aww man, I wish I had a controller to try this out

The visuals, sounds and voice acting all fit together nicely

Adding a manual gear shifting mechanic is really cool

All in all, a pretty slick entry 8-)

Super nice vibe, reminds me of playing the "Stunt" level on N64 Rush 2: Extreme Racing. Really liked this one!

The vibes are great and shifting the stick around is surprisingly intuitive! Unfortunately holding RT doesn’t seem to reliably accelerate my car, so I mostly just waited until I got hit by a fish then drove around until I stopped.

hmmm, are you letting go of the clutch (LT) in gear first? (also at low speeds you need to be in lower gears) you could also be skidding out without realising, try letting off the gas for a second

Thanks, I managed to get SSSlick now!

np, lets gooo

Really neat presentation! As European, manual gear is always welcomed :D

Developer

manual is always slick B)

This soundtrack + slick driving + fish absolutely rules. Congrats on the awesome game =)

wow, sound design put me in a flow state. so slick!

This one has such a vibe to it. The visuals and especially the sounddesign really draw you in + I Iove it when my car goes flying!

My particular controller (nintendo pro controller) doesn't work (triggers are fine, sticks don't do anything for some reason) but I shall track down another controller and return to hopefully give it a rating. I'll say that i'm already interested in the shifting gears, and it's hilarious when the car goes flying.

actually it might not be the controller itself, with the way i (poorly) programmed it if you have other controllers plugged it that might make it wonky (you also might have something connected thats considered a “controller” and puts your actual controller at a later controller index yada yada)

I LOVE this game, the shifting mechanic is so smart and the scoring aspect is pretty fleshed out. My only complaint is I want a more interesting world to play around in with some other crazy obstacles to flip off of and smash into.

I liked this moment when I flipped off the map and got a million points while spinning like crazy. Good job on this game!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

thank you so much, yeah i agree, if we couldve gotten the driving physics down earlier we wouldve added more obstacles and crud. yeah i couldnt for the life of me figure out why chunks wouldnt load in sometimes so i figured that they could just be something people gotta avoid lol

It's a bit laggy in browser for me (my internet sucks), but it seems really cool!

Developer

thank you!  it’s a bummer, we put a last minute build and realized the windows version didn’t have the right file to load ;-: anyways, it should stop lagging once a fish hits you. I think after that it loads all the shaders and all that. Hopefully we can put out a patch after the jam too! Thanks for playing!!

"Now that's what I call SLICK"

love the style and the gear shift controls. was a little confused what was going on but that was part of the fun

Yo, that's so slick! It's very stylish and has a really cool gear-shifting mechanic!
I love being yeeted by the fish :D

Having watched this game being developed on the game jam discord it is a pleasure to finally play it. If you are looking for Slick controls, janky PSX graphics/audio, and no regard for your own safety I'd definitely recommend this game, 10/10 would do again.

The driving (as someone with no experience driving a manual) feels wonderfully esoteric. I'm starting to get the hang of it: would love to have a fish-free practice area. Absolutely blown away by the music, visuals, and overall presentation.

man i wish i had a controller because this game looks slick!!!!

Broom Broom, solid effort, keep slickin' those tires.

I really dig the vibe, would love keyboard controls. But I shouldn't complain, I always lack controller support in my games.
