Good game. Good presentation and good gameplay. There is just one thing I have to mention; the gravity. It feels like floating. I know how hard is to get gravity working for a CharacterBody2D and I am in the same predicament but yeah, I had to say it. Good experience nonetheless, good job.

Yeah good call, this is our first project in Godot so we jumped straight into the pit of fire with this one haha. Thanks for the kind words :)

It’s funny how I wrote in another entry that it reminded me of Patapon, but this one literally looks to me like something done by the original artist. The way the backgrounds and foregrounds are done bears a strong resemblance to the series, and I’m a big fan. From an artistic standpoint, I think it’s my favorite entry, I just hold the Patapon series very dearly. I don’t know if your art was inspired by it or in general by the work of Rolito, but either way, it looks great. The game also feels very responsive and plays nicely. It’s short, but sweet. Really cool stuff!

Aw, thank you! And yeah the backgrounds were super inspired by Patapon haha, I realized after I made the character that it looked a lot like patapon and decided to roll with that for backgrounds lol

Cute lil guy with nice movement

This game is pretty awesome! I like the minimalistic art style of the stages and the colors of them, the main character is super adorable and the base of the movement mechanics are there! The stages are small enough and easy to learn that you can speedrun them pretty well, but I do wish there maybe was a little direction on where to go via maybe a directional pointer or maybe having the room start zoomed out to give you a rough mental layout.

I wish there was a way to restart a stage, maybe control my jump height a little better, and I wish the walls weren't quite SO sticky if trying to jump from the ground while already pressed against a wall.

I think this game is super awesome still, and the sprites and animations of the lead character are so fun! Such a silly run cycle, I love making them go fast!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I like your ideas, those would definitely help the weaker spots a bit. I wish we had more time! lol

Love the design of the main character, so cute! Really enjoyed the launching mechanic in the game, it was great to go flying around the platforms (even when I flung myself directly into spikes XD)

Haha ty :)

Fun visual style and I like the speedrunning encouragement with the timer/record in the ui. platforming controls feel super smooth but sometimes it feels like the tongue kills your momentum if you miss it? that might be intentional but it feels super punishing sometimes

Developer(+1)

Thank! Yeah I wish we had more time to work on the physics, that would be something we’d fix

This is a really good game. I love the idea of a mailbird rushing around to deliver packages at lightning speed and the controls are pretty good as well.

I do however think there should be more going on in the background. I say this because I really liked the art style for the assets you made like the level select map and character, and I don't know if you ran out of time, but I wish the levels were a bit more lively. Also, the music seems to only play at the start of the level for some reason and fades the further away the player get.

I hope this comment doesn't come across as negative as I don't mean to be. As I said before, the game is really good and I think you did a great job (especially for the time given), I'm just trying to give some constructive feedback on how I think it could have been even better.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I agree, if we had more time I definitely would’ve changed the backgrounds up a lot.

Really liked the animations and stuff! The levels also felt pretty polished and the time trials a bit tough for me, but achievable. Gam gud

Super fun! Grinded for like 2 hours for 21.8, 21.9 and 27.9 times!

Developer

Insane times! Way better than I was at the game... haha, I'm glad you enjoyed

Cool platforming and character design. Wall jumping was a bit rough for me at first, and I kinda wish the tongue came out on the initial click rather than releasing the click, but other than that I had a fun time. Levels had cool designs, and there was a nice sense of momentum. Good stuff!

Developer(+1)

I agree with your suggestions, especially the wall jumping, this was our first time making something like this haha. Thanks for checking out the game and the kind words :)

Really liked the platforming, and the presentation is awesome! Would love to see more levels!

This bird cracks mail! What a neat design and fun game! Wish the controls were a tad more slick (wall jumps and grapples feel “sticky”)

Developer(+1)

I agree it does feel a bit sticky at times, wish we had more time to refine. Thank you for the compliments :)

This is so cute. The movement felt really good with the way the character was able to stop in the air, gave a really good sense of control. I love the little creatures too. Lovely game

Thank you for the kind words!

Super cool movement mechanism!
I think it doesn't add much that you collide with bats, it was more of a frustration for me. Also losing upward momentum when touching walls had me thrown off at first.
Other than that, I think it's very effective, I really enjoyed not looking at the checkpoint system as just a gate to go through but an actual goal for my character delivering letters.
Super fun!

Developer

Thank you for the suggestions! We were sort of frantic at the end so we weren't able to refine everything but I do agree with those issues, thanks for checking out the game!
