How does your game represent "Slick"?

amazing you managed to include a tutorial! Pacing felt maybe a bit too quick, but added to the choaticness immediately and I liked it! Absolutely love the look of the lil guy (I approve of the mustache use on Mr.Boss ;)) The falling over noise had me dying and loved the voice effects/talking noise!
We definitely leaned into the fast chaos, lol, and the falling sound had us dying too 😂
Thanks for playing!
That's a pretty original and cool entry!
Cleaning up puddles and redirecting customers really makes you think what's going on inside of the head of a client lol
I wish you could select items with the keyboard as well, that would feel even slicker :D
Still, you did very well!
Glad you liked the concept! And yeah, keyboard selection is a great idea. Thanks for playing!
We did discuss multiple control options. We initially had plans to make the game playable on mobile and controller for instance but that proved to be outside of scope.
This is a very fun puzzle game! Using the different signs to choose the paths of the customers was really fun and the item management added a stressful element that really brought the whole thing together. I love the design of the little guy too! Great game!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the chaos!
The items are really well done. Once I started playing more I realized how to pay attention to where I was guiding the customers. It was cool to try to figure out which items to use first and where. I liked the sound effects, music, and the dialogue voice that was used in the tutorial. Good work!
I'm glad you enjoyed various aspects of the game, thank you for the feedback!
Was cool figuring out how to route customers with the signs and managing resources as a whole. Also mustache guy is looking very slick.
Thanks!
Poor guy, so much pressure and stress.
But the game is cool, though.
Thanks for the feedback!
Love the pacing of this game. Very fun to manage multiple tools at the same time! Would have been nice to know early on that there is a sprint button... But once I got that it felt really nice to play!
I had even forgotten that I could run when I first played, 😅. I think we could have highlighted that in the tutorial. Thanks for the feedback!
Nice to see another cleaning game in the jam. We Janitors must stick together :D. Fun game, at the tutorial I was first thinking "this is too slow" but the pace picked up pretty fast and I was running all over the place in no time. Great work!
Haha, janitors united! Thanks for playing and for the feedback!
Cool! I really like how polished the game is—you’ve even managed to get a tutorial in there. Maybe it’s a skill issue on my end, but I kept getting fired constantly XD. The mechanics are fun, and I can definitely see this becoming a great co-op game. The character designs are also really nice.
Honestly, the game feels pretty relatable too. I work in hospitality and—damn—bosses really want that wet floor sign down fast.
Good luck with your future games!
Thanks a lot! I’m glad you liked the polish and the tutorial. Getting fired is part of the authentic experience haha.
Really appreciate you playing!
Super fun, spawning of the water messed me up a couple of times, a dash mechanic to get between water splotches would be really good. The tutorial never went through what the 4th and 5th item were. It would be awesome if we could use 1-2-3-4-5 keys for the items instead of clicking with mouse so we can just use the keyboard (and you could map this for controller then). There is a restart button in the tutorial but it doesn't seem to do anything? I found it funny that I could set a redirect sign that leads into another redirect sign but they ignore the original sign the second time, would be a funny loop mechanic to keep someone held in place haha.
There's a lot the tutorial didn't get into. Like how shift can be used to sprint. This is because originally it was only the tutorial for the first day, and you'd have more tutorials for each day as new stuff was introduced. But then those days got scrapped and the items ended up in the pool anyway :D
ahhh, this makes sense then, that sprint would've been amazing to know about ahahah
Really fun game! The noises they make after falling over made it a 10/10 :D
I will admit we had an internal debate about this. Because it's much more fun to watch them fall over and we considered making a game where that was the goal but eventually decided against it.
Cool game! I felt like i was always a bit too slow to get across the map to retrieve my cleaning supplies. I really like the character design
Were you using Shift to sprint? Another user said they kept forgetting and it was something we didn't have time to explain in the tutorial.
I was not, just played using shift and it made a heck of a lot of difference! though I feel like i would just be constantly holding shift if i were to play again. perhaps have the run by default and then make shift put you into a walk mode in case you want more precise movement?
That's the impression I'm getting. If it's required that you're sprinting constantly, why is it a button at all? We did originally have more of a downside to sprinting across puddles but that didn't gel when the game's pace increased.
This turned into a kind of frantic puzzle game, pretty fun. It took me a while to remember that you could sprint and then it was pretty fun, but at a certain point there were just too many things to do at once and not enough tools, imo.
Yeah, it definitely gets a bit chaotic sometimes haha. Thanks for sharing your feedback!
Awesome concept and felt very polished. I agree that the difficulty got really hard really fast - adding upgrades or just making the ramp up slower would've been better. It also felt a little unfair when a puddle spawned right at the bottom and then someone immediately walked into it.
Side note also, there seemed to be some bugs with the signs where if two were next to each other, the customer would walk through it. But overall great job!
That is an intended mechanic because if you put two signs next to each other facing inwards, you'd trap them in an endless loop. So after being redirected a couple times the NPC will just ignore the next obstacle until it makes progress. But good to know we could have conveyed that point a little better.
Neat game! I feel like the difficulty could have used a slightly slower ramp up (the move from the tutorial to the first level was a jump scare :D ). Fun though!
We had the idea of multiple levels, each introducing more items and different customer types. This, I hope, would have provided that clean escalation before endless mode. But you know how things are and how stuff needs to get cut to make the deadline.
