Cool idea!! I think with some added complexity, this could be a really fun daily chess puzzle. Just uh... pawns can't move backwards.
I encountered a bug at 800elo where I couldn't progress past but the kept me in that level, with my moves going to the negatives. Otherwise, ran real smooth!
Thanks for reviewing! Yes you ended the game (I made only 8 levels), I didn't handle the case where there was no more level
For pawn moves I take some freedom to make them move in any direction because it makes the puzzle more simpler to think about
Love it!!! You could always make it about painting the king, and use king moves! But yeah the game is great.
A white pawn painting itself black could be sending the wrong message. You may want to workshop that theme.
Otherwise, it's an alright chess puzzle.

Yeah... I've went the other side with a black pawn becoming white but it didn't feel better..
