How does your game represent "Slick"?
We decided to go for the "deceptive" or "sly" intepretation of the word, we made a game about cheating at cards, the goal is no longer to win, it's to destroy the opponent

I like the backflips

Totally did not win by cheating..... Very slick game.

This truly captures the feeling of playing board games with your siblings, expect in my case they didn’t even try to hide it. Thanks for invoking some of these repressed memories :D

The fact you were able to implement such a mechanically deep card game that includes ways to cheat is impressive in and of itself. But the visuals here are just as impressive! I laughed pretty hard at the backflip during the intro cinematic.

For those who are more familiar with the card game this is based on, I'm sure this is pretty easy to slip into. I'm new to it, however, so I struggled for a bit here. But once I got the hang of it, this is a lot of fun! Great job, you should be proud :)

Developer

thanks dude! We appreciate your kind words, as devs there is nothing better than seeing someone enjoy your work. Much love 😊

Very slick visuals, the card game is pretty neat but it took a while to understand how it worked. I saw in a previous comment someone else mentioned not understanding the ranking of the face cards and I was in a similar boat, but once I got the hang of it, it was pretty cool!

The animations are solid, the cute art style on the cards is great! I found actually performing someone of the cheats a little difficult to understand what I was doing on first use, but it's fine! I think my only real complaint was that I couldn't find a simple way to conclude the game or close it, at least after I had started another rematch

Developer(+1)

thanks! Yeah the cheat balancing was tough especially due to the time constraints, the design idea behind it is that each cheat should be progressively harder to perform so that is not always doable. For example the coin distraction should allow only for quicker cheating actions since the length of it is much shorter than others.

Its possible to change interpolations/tweens for cards, character movement?

I have feeling that I have no control cause its slow.

Very original idea +1

Developer

In the current build is not possible to change the speed of any actions.

Although now after seeing some feedback we considered to increase the animation speed of each action so that only the player fast-thinking matters when it comes to cheating times.

Amazing visuals. So much detail in the presentation.

Really charming :)

Developer

thanks buddy!

Getting a Scopa indeed is very slick. Love this game!

Developer

hope you were able to make some Slicopa yourself 🙌🏽🙌🏽

Very well presented, and theme aside I love that you can actually just play this as a regular card game without the cheating aspect. Fun card illustrations too. My only complaint is not being able to know the values of the face cards, it would’ve made sum-claiming a lot easier.

Developer

Thank you!

Sorry about that, we should address that 100%

Those are traditional Italian Scopa cards, for future reference, the boy is an 8, horse is a 9 and king is a 10

Stunning, and cozy. The vibe here is on point and its a great take on the theme. I especially love the mechanic where you can rearrange the deck but under pressure. Thank you for the game :D

Fantastic nostalgic look while still having a modern polish. Game play was simple but fun and well executed.  Very nice

Dang this is slick! PS2 spotted! Amazing graphics and cinematic camera work!

Just wow, truly stunning. The plastic materials, soft lighting, and animated UI elements all really delight, and I love all the details you added to the space and animations. Amazing!

Developer

I really appreciate you like the aesthetic I was trying to achieve with this. Thanks a lot!

The amount of polish here is stunning! Really nice work. Impressive what you accomplished in 10 days!

Developer

Much appreciated! Thanks :D

Very polished game! I really liked the environment and the opening scene. The variety of ways to cheat was also nice but I think I suk at the game too much to take advantage of it (I still haven't figured out what value or all the ways to use the cards with characters on them...)

Developer(+1)

We suk at the game too! ahah
As for the cards value 8 is the jack, 9 is the horse, 10 is the king. We forgot to add a disclaimer for anyone who is not used to those cards :'(

Love the environment and theming of the game. It also introduced me to a card game I've never knew about so it gave me a really new and original experience! Also appreciated the thorough explanations in the rules book (really helped me to get my footing) and the premise of the cheating cousin is one I feel we can all relate to lol! It's definitely a game I want to take my time and strategize with. Its really got the potential to be a game to you could sell and add to!

Developer

Thanks a lot!!!
I appreciate you found the cousin scenario charming and relatable, here in Italy it's quite a common thing for kids to experience especially during summer breaks :)

Reminds me of when I would secretly go into creative mode playing Minecraft with my cousin. Lovely art and fun game, my only notes are maybe adding a short tutorial since gamers notoriously avoid reading. Great work!

Developer

Thank you for the comment, I'm extremely happy that you were able to experience such a thing with our little game!
We do agree about the tutorial, unfortunately time was scarse but it's 100% needed especially because the card game used as fundation it's not internationally known.

Very cute game with fantastic visuals! The amount of polish in this is an impressive achievement given the timeframe. Also, the anime posters in the background, these kids are cultured as hell? Crank calling your cousin while your in the same room is classic cousin behaviour. Great work!

Developer(+1)

Appreciate it! These kids probably have cultured big brothers guiding their taste ;)

Submitted(+2)

Wow, the visuals are simply amazing!

I have to agree with the rest of the comments, it is a really polished and visually pleasing game

The intro really made me laugh, when our boy just did a backflip at the end :D

A very nice game, great job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I cracked a smile too when I first saw the backflip in the intro

Unbelievably polished and realized for a jam game. Loved it! Congrats!

Developer

Thank you! :)
