How does your game represent "Slick"?
"Slick" made me think of all the action games where I felt that way, and that made me want to put all the memories of playing those games into one thing. Gameplay mechanics like grading systems and slow motion, but also things like music, or the nostalgic feeling of looking back on slick moments. For this game, Slick is more about putting together memories.
(There were originally going to be oil slicks to clean up, but it didn't end up in that direction.)

Congrats on getting #1 on fun. Very deserved!
Incredibly fun!! I had some problems early on where I couldn't get into the air and I thought the enemies were too hard to see, but these were mitigated quickly in the later rounds (and by realizing you can grind on rails). The enemy diversity is great, the combo system is really rewarding and fun. I like how you have to choose to disorient yourself to get rewarded. Satisfying arc and conclusion. It really clicked for me when the waves came in and started sending me into the air. I only wish there were MORE combos, like rewarding 360s. I also think more feedback on hitting tricks would be nice. And the music! Really good music that builds up satisfyingly.
Perfect score. Everything felt incredible and it has a really satisfying final level. The only thing I would change is making the rails a bit wider. The color palette, the music and the simple 3d style really went well together - I could almost feel the sea spray on my face!
The gameplay footage does not do this game justice. It is such a vibe and so fun to spin around and do some slick tricks. I only wish that the rails were easier to get on but that's about it for notes. Great work!
incredibly impressive game jam game, I would absolutely play a full game of this! the aesthetics were really cool and unique, music was perfect, loved the small touches like music being muted under water and achievement sound effects. I loved the skater-trickshot-shooter combination, I'd love to see more types of tricks and combos to achieve. overall a super satisfying and exciting game. please give us more!!
a beautiful game with a lot of soul behind it. glad you were able to come on, i think that the way you used what you had ended up really awesome.
Wow, this was a lot of fun! I love the tricks, the slowdown while aiming is super smooth, and achieving Smokin' Slicksy Style is very exciting. The physics feel great and the enemy takedowns are satisfying. Great work!
Sick, sick, sick, dude. Such a feelgood game, open and free, assisted by the setting and the parasailing and the music. The water tech is cool but also functional since it's useful at getting me back in the air when I can't quite land a railing. It's exactly what it needs to be.
Really fun, would like it if my roll orientation was gently being pulled back to center while in the air? feels a tad hard to control? But so much fun to slow-mo and shoot the little skier guys. Nice work!
Slick/10
this is a full 5/5 for me, no hesitation. the movement just feels incredible. getting launched by a wave, spinning mid-air, lining up a slow-mo shot, then landing straight into a rail grind makes me tingle. everything feeds into that feeling of momentum and style and its sliiiiiick. the water effects are impressive, the game is so cohesive, the music ramping up, the slow motion, the waves that send you flying so you can hit that one enemy's weak point. it’s so damn flashy, and it’s designed perfectly. rail snapping could maybe be a bit more forgiving, but that’s a nitpick I have. this is polished, creative, and ridiculously fun.
I got both seasick and scared of drawning but I don't regret it one bit. This is awesome :D
This is incredible. Hitting crazy shots mid spin/flip was super satisfying, and I loved being launched into the air by the waves. My only wish is for landing on the rails to be slightly easier, since it sometimes felt like I was passing through them. Great stuff!
Wow, it really takes me back to games like Tribes: Ascend with the skiing, and Bioshock Infinite with the rails. This was really fun to play
Tribes was indeed one of the many games I had in mind in the process of making this game! Especially its slippery ski movement.
I miss that game a lot!
This is so so good. It was so fun to ride the wave and do super high and then quickscope something. Good shit. I love how the music changes when you are in the water and I cant beleive my computer survived it fine.
I love the water simulation/effects and the slow motion bullet shots! It felt so satisfying bouncing around with the waves and shooting everything in slow motion!
The visuals are so crisp and vibrant and I'm shocked they don't fry my computer. The enemy that makes huge shockwaves that you use to fly up to shoot at its weakpoint is absolutely brilliant design and made for such a hype moment. Only thing is I wish there was just a bit more leeway for snapping onto rails, and the controls were not on screen for very long so I never knew you could zoom in, so I was just trying to no-scope everything. Still got an S rank though.
Frutiger aero themed trickshotting game with rail grinding? Yeah slick indeed! Nice job. :)
I went into this blind, and I'm so glad I did, this is such a delightful experience. Amazing game design. The visuals are really appealing; The neo Y2K / frutiger aero aesthetic is perfectly incorporated into the environment, custom models, and UI. Thank you for making this. I would love to see a longer game with more maps and weapons.
Slick To My Stomach did something similar with a very different vibe. https://aurant1um.itch.io/slick-to-my-stomach
Shooting is super satisfying! It’s kinda hard to get onto railings - often I try to reach a spot and fail miserably. With the tricks, I usually just end up holding one or two buttons forever to refill the slow-mo while simultaneously shooting as many robots as I can. Overall the game is very fun, being propelled by waves into the sky and then killing the guys below feels super slick!
Definitely slick, I can imagine this game having a little back story and progressing through different levels a bit like mirror's edge style, when you can also perform different tricks on your way. It was very fun, thank you !
