How does your game represent "Slick"?
Slick driving, slick characters, slick beats. A thouroughly lubricated gameplay experience.

I really like the pre-rendered 3d aesthetic here
This was really fun! It reminded me of two things: how much I like top-down racing games, and how bad I am at top-down racing games (haha). This is a pretty simple premise executed very well; I'm honestly struggling to come up with many points of improvement (though perhaps that's due to my inexperience with the genre). I absolutely love the style and characters (Charlie Chevron my beloved), the soundtrack's great, the driving felt good, the AI offered an appropriate level of challenge...really, just great work all around!!
Fun game!
nice solid racing game! I reckon you could have pushed the slickness element a bit more. my only complaint is that items should reflect your position, so you should get the boost when you are behind and not in 1st place for example. I also like it when you can direct items a bit, like holding down to shoot the oil project backwards.
Best part for me was the 3D models of the playable characters, they look super cute and slick. BP Pellington such a chad he doesnt even need to hold the steering wheel to drive
Loads of fun here. Will leave Pellington's face on my desktop for a while. Thank you for the game
The road was very slick and so was the messaging
very fun! tried the drifting multiple times but it didn't really feel like it was helping me much. Love the style and the animals lol. I could only get one item from the barrels, but I assume that's part of being in first place, so maybe i'll slow down a bit to try out the other ones
Very slick
Okay, this one was fun. The presentation was simple but effective, but the gameplay was spot on. The driving felt smooth and the enemy intelligence was perfect. Annoying enough to hit you when you need it the least, but dumb enough to let you slide just in front thought the corner.
Definitely keep the 3d-rendered esthetic. Maybe look at 'Super Skidmarks' for some inspiration, that game had a higher POV / smaller vehicles which could allow more players. But more importantly, it had a caravans that you could hitch behind your car, maybe you could implement that you carry the oil drum/powerup behind you once picked up, then waiting for the moment to blast someone in front of you literately becomes a drag, which then should change the sweeping around the corner physics, like really flung the back and some slow down through the oil. (powerup/trade off)
If you really want to pursue this maybe change the focus from solely targeting BP and more like take all the big ecological disasters as each stage and educate the player before the stage what crap we did and the impact (and name BP there) and the after the race the state now/what happened afterwards. Edutainment is much easier to get funds or sponsors for. I just hope that if that works out, that there will never be a sequel or DLC. ;)
Thank you for such in-depth feedback, I'm glad you enjoyed!
loved the presentation! it had that prerendered graphics charm which gets harder to find since, with modern game engines, it's arguably easier to just make the game realtime 3D. i have a soft spot for "minicar" games so this one was a treat.
the controls were rock solid, but i actually expected them to be a bit less rock solid on the slick surfaces, if surface slickness is supposed to be a point of the game. would've been cool to see a bit more risk/reward, like for example a shortcut that's more challenging/risky because it has a slick surface. or maybe even the ability to go faster by making yourself more slick.
i was also impressed with the driving AI and how it overall seemed to be able to tell what place i was in, not the easiest problems to solve in a gamejam timeframe. everything felt pretty rock solid.
i had a great time with it, just barely managed to come in 1st place at the end. thanks for making it!
I definitely had a moment after rendering out all the sprite sheets for the 4th time where I considered remaking the whole thing in 3D, I'm glad my stubbornness payed off. The reactive AI was actually surprisingly simple, if a little bit hacky, but it had to be done or the game would be way too easy, I'm happy that it's working on everyone. Thanks for the feedback and thanks for playing!
stupid turtle keeps oiling me up
fun game with good controls and vibes all round
That feel when you lose not because you got oiled but because you aren’t slick enough…
I kept getting oiled by that damn turtle. Very fun game would definitely recommend it! Would love to see more tracks and even online multiplayer (if this happens shoot me a message)!
Very funky and fun racing game. Turns out to beat the dev time you don't need any boosts, only slick turns!
Tried very hard to beat the 4:50 time... but that damn penguin kept getting in my way! Very fun, did a few races and then found myself restarting a lot to try and get the best RNG for speed boost drops. But I always get the dang oil. It's hard to imagine what 5million gallons of oil look like, but after all the oil I got from power ups, I can start to imagine it...
Great work, guys!
solid game! controls feel a bit funky honestly but yall did great with the artstyle!
Love the graphics. The soundtrack is also sick. This is the first ever BP oil spill type game.
Perfect for the theme. The BP lore is a funny inclusion. I was hoping someone would submit a kart like. Thanks for putting a hand brake in too, i was cruising through those corners.
Felt really lubricated playing this
Red Line but on an oil slick. Nice
The jungle track for the main menu is such a bop! My racing skillz must stink cause i got 3rd place :(
