How does your game represent "Slick"?
The tops are powered by oil ("slick") that runs out if the player overuses the boost or takes too long to clear a level. More directly, victory is achieved by winning high-octane clashes and executing max speed maneuvers with finesse and skill.

Beyblade simulator! Very fun game, I really like the gameplay it's so exhilarating. I love the simplistic yet addictive loop. Very good time

This game has such a cool retro art style! I've made a spinning top game styled game in the past and I thought your take on it was very interesting! Cool submission!

Sheen aint got nothin on me! this is such a unique game compared to alot of others and honestly i really enjoyed it! I would have liked to see a directional arrow or something when there is one enemy left. But its clear a lot of care went into especially the garage and upgrades so great game!! really fun!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! Yeah we've received similar input from other testers and I also think a later release will include arrows at the end of the screen to indicate the other tops, and probably zoom the camera out a bit to be honest.

LET IT RIP!!! F🔥🔥🔥

Interesting game, always fun playing beyblades, was confused about the keys without looking up the instructions on the page, including which keys to press on top of the guides you have given would make it better, even just having it use the left/right or a/d keys (seeing as you don't use these in mid combat) would have been more intuitive. Well done on the audio and syncing it all, great look, love that psx feel. I could purchase everything in the shop and go into negative so that seemed a little confusing. Overall well done, can see a future for it if you can patch the couple of minor issues!

Developer(+1)

Yeah that's our fault, we did add a check for that but it got reverted at some point and we only realized after the deadline. It's fixed in the current version. Really wish we could request they use a fixed version if our game makes it onto Dunkey's stream!

I dont know why, but this game reminds me of pokemon rumble for the wii. The music and arena style of the game reminds me of the good-ol-days. Excellent job :)

Cool game. Moving around the map feels fun.

I think one big issue is that moving around the map doesn't really matter. I seems like the only mechanic that matters for winning is mashing EQ when you encounter another top. I think this game would benefit from rewarding engaging with the movement.

Well done!

So, what also matters is your speed and how much you're bonking into them, but we agreed it was too hard for a game jam entry where it would be played for a brief period of time haha. But your damage does have a multiplier based on your speed and the dot product of your linear velocity and the direction towards them--in a full version we would have indicators that show damage, ideally like mult in balatro haha. I loved your game though btw, idr if I commented but I did review it highly. Excellent visuals

Submitted(+1)

Oooh ok yeah it just wasn't clear that your speed is factored in. That's good to know, thanks for clarifying.

And yeah you left a comment on big punch, thanks for the review! <3

Man, Sheen let it rip all over me. I swear, I was tug of warring with him for 5 minutes on our third clash, but my human biology couldn't keep up with his mashing abilities. Really cool concept and I loved the twist of having different weapons on your tops! It was a great spin (get it?) on beyblades I hadn't seen before. Great work!

Developer

The balancing is a little rough after a point haha, but there's a weapon in the store, the only one with 3.0 damage, that actually makes it pretty consistent for beating Sheen -- if you try it again look for that one, the mash requirement is pretty low

Extremely charming visuals, I love the sheer number of upgrade options. You really didn't need that many! But I'm glad they're there. The gameplay is very simple but I had fun anyway. The midi music and low res sprites really sold the 90s shareware sort of aesthetic.

really fun, felt like old school flash games, the mechanic to level up your weapons and engine everything was "slick" and then i loved the integration of boss battles.

Very nice presentation, and gameplay :D I found a bug though - sometimes you can clip through the map border in some places if going fast enough.

Developer

yes, that's fixed in the current version but unfortunately we didn't catch it on the last day -- I also made the music in the last two hours before the deadline haha, so there's definitely a few bugs. Thanks for playing though!

This is such a slick game—the level of polish is incredible. I imagine it was inspired by those childhood moments of playing with Beyblades and feeling slick as hell. I took a similar approach when designing my game, focusing on re-evoking that same slick feeling you get when you dodge a ball during school dodgeball games.
Good luck in your future games guys!

This game deserves way more ratings!

Fun game! I was able to go into negative money and start a tab at the shop lol. I love the customization and unlocks, really adds to the playtime! Great Music too!

Submitted(+2)

Mannnn this is slick af - beyblades are such a fun thing. Having the upgrade system made it all the cooler being able to customize your top. I loved the clashes and the music design also was slick. Also goated voice acting

Alright. That takes me back to the Beyblade's Hayday. Love look you've got there :)

Do make sure to play and rate our game as well (it might take a minute for it to load)
