I really really enjoyed this game! My only critique is that the difficulty is a bit crazy, and that out of the 3 levels the first one is by far the hardest. Other than that the art is amazing and the gameplay is really fun, I would love to see this game expanded with more levels and gimmicks!

Thanks!
It's probably not gonna be a big project but we're working on making a better version! :o

The art is so good! The swimming animation is smooooth and the kelp and the parallax effect is just perfect. I really like difficult platformers, but this was just a bit too much. Couldn't get past the spikes part for the life of me. Either died to the spikes if I went fast, or died to oxygen/time if I was slow and careful. I would maybe balance those two things a little more in the level design (sometimes fast with few dangers but also few oxygen tanks, then areas with lots of dangers but also lots of oxygen). The controls felt good, especially when you hit a streak of good boosts.

Is the oxygen draining somehow tied to framerate? It ran out really quickly.

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks for your feedback!
It's not related to the framerate I was just used to the controls so I didn't realize it's hard for players
I increased the oxygen amount in general and I'm trying to work on better levels for a newer version :)

The incredible art is held back by brutal difficulty. I gave it what I considered a reasonable effort but still barely made it past the first spiky section. When working on this, did you have dev checkpoints, or were you good enough to start from the beginning each time? Some minimum sound effects and music would have gone a long way too.

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks for trying it!
Actually, I was always starting from the beginning and didn't realize how hard it was, it's probably because i was already used to the movement while working on it
Which made it difficult for me to notice how hard it is for players

We rushed a lot of things last day so we didn't have time for play testing or to add sounds
Thanks for your feedback! :)

Very nice background and enivronment. Loved it. Mechanics are little hard for me. Loved playing it.

Developer

Thanks! :)

Cool game you have. The visual is charming and cute, if it's delivered with some sfx that would be great. Like the others have commented, the difficulty is off the chart right now. I am fine with the wonky movement, I actually pretty like it, but checkpoints all over the place could have been a huge, huge improvement.

Keep up the good work man!

I like how you implemented controls in the game. And thanks for code sharing, will take a look!

I wish it could be easy for a little longer at the beggining, I died to many times on the first spikes :D

Developer(+1)

Thanks!
I'm working on making better levels for a newer version later :)

Cool premise. For some reason the web build was freezing for me every few seconds, so I couldn't get very far and can't say for sure how the controls felt. Art is nice and definitely think it has great potential if you ever wanted to expand it.

Thank you very much! We really appreciate your feedback.😀
And yeah the web build was freezing quite often when I tried it, I let my brother play it in the windows build instead.

And my friend Sayuo is actually thinking of exanding it a little bit more!🔥🔥

I really like the art and vibe of the game, but it was a bit too difficult and having to spam up/space was too tiring for my hands. I would play more if it was more doable  :p

Developer

Thanks for trying it! I'll try to improve it later after the vote ends :)

Space has some weird cooldown while UP arrow key does the same thing with no cooldown. Also would be nice if you could hold UP arrow key and not spam it, just like the LEFT/RIGHT arrow keys.
The oxygen tank hitbox is uncomfortably small.

I wish there was an easy/god mode or checkpoints so i could see all the game. Didn't get past the first spikes.

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks for playing the game! :)
Both use the same action so they should have the same cooldown, I also tried to increase it to make sure and UP key has the same cooldown

It's so hard to the point it isn't much playable:( Wish the oxygen lasted at least twice as long

Thanks for trying the game! I'll try to fix it later after the jam :o

Game was too hard. I didnt really make it past the first spikes section!

Developer(+1)

Yeah, sorry! we rushed level-designing in last few hours :o

Difficulty is super hard to get right in games like this. All mine so far has failed this aspect too! I wonder how to solve it.

Developer

Yeah, I want to try to improve it later after the jam
