Oh yeah! The Song is very fun! I think the visual effects are a bit much at times which was kinda overwhelming (especially in the later parts). Still a very slick entry!

How does your game represent "Slick"?
We've picked two definitions and worked around them:
"operating or performing skilfully and effectively, without problems and without seeming to need effort" -> perform a trick with the press of just one button
"smooth, wet and slippery (= difficult to move on without sliding)" -> play an ice cube, which will slide around the floor. Too bad there are too many obstacles in the way :(

I really liked your game! The song was amazing, and the art style (*especially* the main character) reminds me of mid-2000s edutainment games, which is so very unique and charming. I also encountered the "no hitbox" bug that some other people did, but I was more grateful than frustrated because it allowed me to put the song on loop haha. The pulsation of the screen was a bit disorienting, but I honestly think that added to the overall experience. And the upgrade system was very interesting and fun to progress through as well...needless to say, great work to both you and your wife! Definitely let me know if you choose to expand it :)
Hey there, thank you for your thorough feedback, it's always a delight to read your texts :)
I'm glad you were able to enjoy the game even with the bug, because, as you wrote, you were able to listen to the song as a whole :D
When I submitted the game, I totally forgot to add the option to remove the visual effects as they can be a bit much, though I'm glad people also seem to enjoy the chaotic environment
My wife already said she'd be down to continue this project. She said we should be adding more levels that come with new songs
I also thought of a different kind of mode, where, instead of being stuck in this small area, you move non-stop from left to right, dodging oncoming obstacles and do some platforming, until you reach the end of the level
Thank you for playing our game, we're happy you enjoyed it :)
The game is about an ice cube wearing shades, therefore it is doubly slick!
I had fun playing this game, and the upgrades really helped with replayability. Also, the music is absolutely amazing!
The ice cube sprite is such a vibe! Loved the metaprogression system, really made me feel like I was getting stronger as I kept playing, very well done!
Damn I don't think I've played a game in the jam yet where the music matches the gameplay quite like this! The platforming controls still feel very precise even though everything else is very chaotic. Cool music and cool game!
Solid entry, loved the music and the concept. Unfortunately I got the same issue the other comments mentioned. Regardless though you made something great here. Good job guys, excited to see more from you in the future.
The most refreshing trope, I personally feel, in a video game is to play as an inanimate object. Playing as an ice-cube here was one such fun change of pace. Also, there is an interesting Music-based time limit, that works perfectly with the core loop here (oh, and needless to say, awesome music)!
I just got one teeny-tiny nitpick. The ice cube has transparency, which is perfectly sensible, but makes it look less prominent everything else. If you could aim for translucency instead of complete see-through, added with metallic set to around 50-70%, you'd get a much standing out ice-cube character! Other than that, no blemishes on gameplay. Good job!! :):)
Do make sure to play and rate our game as well (it might take a minute for it to load)
Hey there, thank you for your feedback :)
The idea to play an ice cube came to me after I've researched the word "slick", looking for definitions in order to make a game
I think a unique main character can have a huge impact on the player experience, so I hoped nobody else would go for a sunglasses-wearing, trick-performing, slick ice cube :D
There is a lot that could have been made better (difficulty, upgrade menu, bug fixes), but I blame procrastination (all me, my wife did a great job) for this lol
Thanks for the advice about translucency! I haven't played around with materials much before to be honest, but I will definitely check this out in the future!
And no worries, if a dev plays my game, I will play, rate and comment theirs as well, so your entry has been added to my list :)
Absolutely fire music and sound design; I kept getting called out for trying to trick too early. That is one slick ice cube.
At some point I thought I was being super slick but I think the hit box just deactivated and I wasn't able to perform tricks. I really liked the song that played, and the character design is super slick. Overall this game felt a bit spastic. I would have liked a bit more smoothing in the experience - movement, VFX, etc.
Crazy the amount of themed assets made for this one. Such a slick vibe with the music and lights. Had lots of fun. Nice job! :)
Quite fun dodging all the different drinks/things flying from the bar, the movement felt good. I actually really liked the little record scratch sound it does when I hit pause! Super slick ;) sound design was weirdly mesmerising and boppy, felt like I was trippin' haha
I really like the rhythm platformer bullet hell (idk how to describe it) gameplay, a shame i can't get hit and die in the first 5 seconds. But from what I could see, the patterns did get quite interesting.
I love the vibes but unfortunately i also had the bug where i couldnt get hit or do tricks, but i still see the potential here and the presentation and music are great. lowkey reminds me of the cuphead dlc final boss haha
I was so slick I got invulnerable to getting hit and couldn't do any tricks. Visually the game looks great, but apparently you didn't have time to add better textures for the pickups. The game fits the theme nicely and the music was really cool. A bit buggy, but still a jolly good time!
Hey there, thanks for the feedback :)
Yeah, I started off slow and only locked in when there were only about 3 days left, so I couldn't polish the game enough, but it was such a fun time, especially with the soundtrack and bouncing off ideas with my wife, who is responsible for the slick aesthetics :D
I'm glad you enjoyed it, even though you were also cursed (or blessed?) with invincibility lol
Fantastic presentation coupled with fun, chaotic, rhythmic gameplay! I laughed and grooved to the "Slick baby!" sfx and music. The chaos of the scene got out of hand so fast, and I loved it.
Very chaotic and hype game. Music was so dam catchy. I did experience an issue where the space doesn't seem to do anything and I couldn't figure out how to do tricks.
