impressive! i love every thing in this game the levels the artstyle and core gameplay were awesome !but i had a problem with switching the gun i wish you made it a button on the keyboard instead of right click becouse for some reason some time it wont change
great job!
thanks for checking out my game !! Iam glad you like it
you know , the funny thing is that I did add the "Q" button as a way to change the bullet type, but then I remove it to test something then forgot to added it back before submitting XD
I will re-add it after the jam end thanks for reminding me
That's pretty cool main physics mechanic there. And everything else just emphesize it's coolness :)
Great work!
thanks for playing !!
Iam really happy you like it
Woah the polish on this one!!! Main menu is pretty sick, the idea itself is pretty unique, I liked the music and the art has its own charm!! ☺️☺️ Though I wish the hitboxes were a bit more forgiving - sometimes I get frustrated when the box barely touches the ground and just disintegrates 🙃🙃 Good job!!!!
Thanks for your kind words !!! Glad you liked it.
Yeah, about the hurt boxes… I did that because of how the boxes work. Basically, when the hurt box detects a wall, it checks if the velocity vector length is greater than 50 .. if yes, the box gets destroyed; if not, it lands safely. Why 50? That was for the freeze bullets. The idea was that you could keep shooting the box when it gets too close to the ground to prevent it from being destroyed.
But because of the way Godot handles area detection and physics, the hurt box detects the wall 2–3 frames after the wall has already entered it. By that time, the object has already collided with the wall or ground and its velocity is zero… so it never gets destroyed. I discovered this the hard way, two days into development.
At first I thought it was a problem with my code, so I rewrote a lot of things, cleaned it up, and wasted a full day tweaking settings and searching for answers.
After that, I thought of a lot of solutions , but most of them would’ve required a ton of work , becuase I was originally planning to add three types of boxes, two of which could rotate. In the end, I only added one rotating box. Anyway, since I didn’t want to waste the a lot of the jam time on a single problem, I just made the hurt box a little bigger. From my testing, I didn’t think it would interfere with the game that much… but I probably should’ve tested it with other people. 😅
that's very curious🤔🤔 thanks for the detailed reply!! 😄
Simple game, easy to wrap around, but not so much to master. Took me a wopping 5 mins on the fourth/fifth level. I would say at some point the shooting n moving stuff is a bit wonky, but after a while I got used to it, and the last few maps are really satisfying to nail. Artwork and sfx are good, and I like the way the settings is integrated as part of the game.
Great job, and congrats on the submission!
Thanks for the detailed feedback !!
I'm really impressed that you continued playing the game even after getting stuck on a level , thats mean a lot to me and I'm really happy you liked it !!
Yeah, I loved the idea of making the main menu and settings out of the ordinary, so that's what I did.
Do you have any suggestions that could improve the gameplay experience?
Hmm, if there is one key takeaway that I can give, then it must be remembering to always have iterative playtesting for precise platformer/puzzle-solving game like this piece. I have had similar problems in the past, where my platformer games are just almost unplayable for some people, because I underestimated how familiar the game is to the dev themself. "Is this level too easy or something?" was something I usually assume in the developing time, and I guess a lot of devs also fell into this rabbit hole, where we completely forgot that players don't read the codes :)) Next time, you should try to have a bunch of people, different people, to play the game, iteratively, as part of the development time (you might have less time to develop the game you have in your head, but this is 100% worth it).
That's my take on this, keep up the good work bud!
thanks for the advice !
I will make sure to keep that in mind in my next jam
The music is great. Simple and fun game , Nice work!
thanks for checking out my game , happy you like it !!
Yoooo I loved the interactive main menu! The characters and dialogues are really fun too! This game is great and addictive in general, but a bit hard for me... I had a lot of fun beating the first 4 levels though x)
Still, loved the concept, nice work!
Thanks!!!
I've heard that a lot .. it's kind of a hard game XD I'm really glad that didn't stop you from having a good time!
I tried doing something I hadn't done before with the menu, and I wanted to make navigating it connected to the gameplay in some way.
Interesting mechanic! Too hard for me though. Damn.. Most games in the jam has been too hard for me.. I am getting old I think.
I feel you, bro. I also found most of the games here are super hard for me XD
But my game? I got traumatized by the Path of Pain in Hollow Knight… so I wanted everyone else to know pain too.
nice game! I like this unique idea and gameplay
thanks !! , Iam happy you liked it
I probably made this more difficult than it needed to be by using a mousepad. It was very addictive, frustrating, yet fun at the same time. Well done!
the game is quite hard .. but since Iam using a laptop I didn't test is with mousepad , does it make it more difficault to play ( Iwant to know so I keep that in my mind while making my next projects ) ?
also thanks for checcking out my game , Iam glad you like it !!
Really good, enjoyed it, even though I suck at it haha!
Iam happy you had fun !!
That was a lot of fun! Hard to begin with but easy to get the hang of and the graphics and sounds make it super satisfying even while failing and learning. I could easily see this work great for a co-op, pico park style game too.
(Also glad to see another physics-based game in the jam!)
I never thought of it like that, but now that you mention it .. it sounds like a really cool idea!!
I'm glad you had fun :D
I'll be sure to check out your game too!
I indeed had quite a lot of fun, playing this game!
thanks !!
happy you like it
Incredible! The controls are simple but the way you make the level make this game much harder.I enjoy playing this.
Thanks !!
Iam glad you like it
Great game. I suck at it, but still had fun failing lol. Also love the menu music.
Thanks for checking it out my game , happy you had fun !!
it took me a while to find music the match the game's vibe
Game is incredible, super fun and fits both the main theme and sub-theme. It is indeed hard to master xD Congrats!
thanks !!
Iam really glad you liked it ... yeah it's quite hard XD
